We have mentioned that our special club scheme is great for most because we can set our own rates but we do have criteria that members must meet. For instance, we can't quote M postcodes and that just leaves us the screen rates (which are rates that are common to all brokers using that quoting software). The screen sometimes throws up ridiculous rates. We wouldn't have 'quoted' you £23,000 - that would be crazy. We would have just told you that's what the screen was showing, recognising that there was no way anyone would pay that. Normally when it throws up a high figure like that we don't even mention the amount but we just say the screen has come up with an uncompetitive rate. Sorry for the confusion.
