Still shopping around for tyres to put on my starmags And heard that maxxis are pretty alright tyres. And found some on Internet 175/50/13 maxxis MAZ1.

Anybody had any or know someone who has ?

Just trying find good tyres as killing me not having wheels on my car hah :)

I had continemtal contisports on my starmags. Had loads of grip. Bit too much poke though

Ran a couple of sets in that size.

Had some Yoko A539s. They gave great grip, and with other suspension mods in place I could really chuck my GT around with them on. I wasn't too impressed with how long they lasted though, seen as I wasn't going side-ways! They are a softer compound than most tyres though.

Currently running some Dunlop SP Sports. So far in these cold, wet conditions they seem to be coping well, expecially when faced with trying to help stop a Mark2!

Recommend Cont-i's and Uni-royals for there prices and ability in the wet. Dunlops are pricey but wear reasonably slowly compared to say bridge stones.

Just don't get nankangs unless you live in a dry country ahah

Also nankangs really aren't as bad as people make out, if you drive like a dick yeah they are no good but for day to day budget use I've had no problem with them.

Maxxis tyres any good ?

I'm in a dilemma now.

I have run two sets of Dunlop SP Sports in 175/50/13 and they don't seem to be that great. The first set wore out in around 5 months of around 4,000 miles general driving. I wouldn't mind, but they didn't grip that well in the dry and were almost hopeless in the wet with terminal understeer at normal speeds.

I'm going to try the Yoko A539's next even though I've driven a Fiesta Zetec S with them on and thought they were also terrible :(

Problem is, there isn't of choice in that size!

not fantastic but good enough, got them on my hairdresser-mobile I thought the NANKANG NS2's were shite until I stopped driving the 5 like a FWD and started driving it like a RWD.

Not considered 165-55/13s?

I'd probably want 175-60/13s myself but i know you won't want them.

The NS2's are pretty bad in the wet, perfectly fine in the dry however.

AS1's are a vast improvement.
