I'm clearly bored but I'm noticing more thread titles or stickers on the car declaring that its driven daily. But shouldn't you own more then one vehicle? Be it a motor bike or another car for this statement to be relevant?

Think it started with people with silly low cars that other people thought were 'undrivable' trying to make a statement that they do intact drive their car like it is, daily. All the cool kids decided to put the same stickers on their moderately low cars to make it 'cool'.

I think the declaration is valid in assessing the work and condition of a car, its a lot harder to keep a car nice or do any significant work on it if you need it Monday morning for work.

Lolz, project cars which you need daily are something I like, people who will rip an engine out or try and get It up and running on carbs over a weekend ready for work Monday morning!

I hated having my old bready as my only car as modifications and maintenace had to be done that night. Plenty of times I was out in the dark fitting alternators, rear drums and suspension where I could have been in the warm and dry. Saying that, I spent 5 hours in the dark doing work on the 9n the other day, so even then it's never going to be right.

My old man always warned against modifying a daily driver. When you HAVE to be at work and there's no other transport it's a recipe for disaster. It also gives you the luxury of doing things right, rather than rushing in the dark to get it running for the next day.

But I'm with Kerrly. When people talk about 'daily's' I assume they have another car. I know by definition this isn't the case, but a motherfucker is always someone who fucks mums is it?

Because there are a few projects, second cars and trailer queens on forums - so if your car is your daily then, whilst it's not worth mentioning normally, it's worth pointing out on here so people realise it's actually used as it was designed for..?

The stickers are rubbish and a waste of materials IMO but the expression really is what it says on the tin; that car is driven daily and is used for utility, granted some cars aren't always the most practical but I guess part of it can be finding practicality and use from possibly an unlikely source even if it may cause you issues when picking up the shopping, collecting the kids etc. (this is relevant to a modified car, most likely one that's low or built for a certain purpose e.g. drifting or maybe even a temperamental classic but is still used in spite of their "handicaps" with the world)

Projects can be dailies if you lack space, time, money or even patience I think. I prefer to see projects done that way, having somewhere to store something you're warring with whilst having something to run to and drive every day seems a bit too plain for me, although I will admit for some things a car needs to be off the road for as a rushed weekend probably won't cut it so for that you may need a second car or time off work...

However I do get what you're saying, but having more than one car doesn't necessarily make for choice; if something is in pieces it's not really going to move.

Still don't see why people feel the need to declare it though; my mum drives hers every day, has done for 10 years and she doesn't shout about it or plaster her car in naff stickers. Tbh I also think you can generally tell when a car is used every day despite what may have been done to it.

I couldn't give a shit about this "oh its my daily" it used to be you modify a car, if its a weekend toy then go mad, if its your only car you don't for the sake of your back and sanity, people could clearly see you drive it daily and you didn't need to shout about it because its not something anyone really cares about but with all this scene crap people seem to be all hyped up and a overwhelming sense of self importance. for reference my car isn't lowered, it's my daily. I only have one car, it's a gay car.

Surely some mods improve it? :) I fitted leathers because daily - much more comfortable.

I didn't fit cheap budget tyres because I like to get to work in the snow - because daily.

I fitted aero wiper blades because they actually clear the water in rain - because daily.

It is just an excuse, this rust exists because it's a daily, can't afford to take it off the road whilst having the whole car smoothed and sprayed

you just described me .... my "daily" cam belt snapped due to a fucked water pump... so i got it home bought a 1.6 polo 6n drped the block into my 1.3 mk2 golf got it running on the carb and 1.3 box and everything ready for work

its all about owning 1 car

Yeap, to be honest they're easy to work on and stuff doesn't take long at all,

With my mk3 I swapped engine, did a carb conversion, changed all the suspension, rear beam, brakes, new rad and fan and such, made an exhaust fit etc, changed all the brakes/bearings, setup ride heights blabla, in a few days, didn't really need as long as I took off work to be honest. Half of it was dodging rain and playing on the Xbox lol.

Modding a daily is fine, I just make sure I'm repaired. I also just think I should replace serviceable items whilst they're off, so generally I won't need anything new at the time unless I break it :)

hahaha i used to use mine for dominos delivering aswell! i got the sack cus i had to complaints in a week about making marks on peoples driveways lmao both oil and scrap marks ahahaha they said to higher my car or leave... so i left lol
