heres how it looked when it was bought by my friend a couple years back. (casually stealing your pics alex).. standard 1.3 ryder.

30918_1384167038907_802578_n.jpg

then it was lowered on coilovers

35293_1436905917346_3500975_n.jpg

13x8 weller wheels with a mad offset

41303_1495999314644_3154897_n.jpg

wheels were sprayed white

309143_3912551246932_1513666799_n.jpg

after this it was crashed into while the door was open, so had to chuck a new one on. unfortunately it was silver... lol

199640_1783563503569_318776_n.jpg

the door was then sprayed in primer white and left like that for a long while. also the front drivers wing got a bit 'ratted' haha

225106_10150243547784804_1188161_n.jpg

after this it was time for some jetta lights! yeah boy. we also had to flair the front arches a REDICULOUS amount to make the wheels legal... hahah

263765_2029109042054_3817888_n.jpg

and that was the point where i bought it, looking sorry for itself. love how wide it was though!

296548_2346024726743_1691461894_n.jpg

the bumpstrips all started getting lost, so i decided to take them off in the end..

319499_2397962785162_1972051960_n.jpg

i then resprayed the front wing, aswell as the other 3 arches, to make it look a bit fresher again.

402117_2814342954406_1493857799_n.jpg

fitted crystal lights to the rear and tinted the top half

406510_2814338194287_1721998378_n.jpg

golf GTI rear seats (with headrests!!) and GTI front seats on polo frames so they sat nice and lowww. also a polo coupe s steering wheel.

new plans are:

  • 2 x new front wings
  • rev counter clocks
  • new small front bumper
  • 1.3 NZ engine with bike carbs and GT cam
  • Smoor Roadster wheels off the polo
  • nice sterio

MOAR LOWS!

while i was there i removed alot of the crap from the engine bay that was in the way, and tidied it all up. i then took the carbs into work the next day for cleaning.

the carbs went from this :

to this :

took alot of steam cleaning and elbow grease! there proper clean now though.

thats where I'm up to ATM, more progress shortly!

Looked so nice before dude! If you come to sell it again give me a shout, love them with the jetta front end!

Yeah it used to be really good condition! Its a shame it went a bit downhill!

Hopefully i will be able to get it looking nice though with some new wings and a lick of paint! Gonna be driving this daily now over the winter months while i fix up the polo!

had a play with this today!

attached my fuel pump blanking plate, fitted the brake servo pipe to the manifold, fitted the carbs.

also ripped out the fuel pump and redid it as it was all over the place. just gotta put it on a switch now!

managed to use the standard golf throttle cable too which is a massive bonus!!!

chucked some jumpleads on it, turned it over and it tries to fire but wouldnt have it! hopefully i will get it going tomorrow :)

This looks unreal!

Good stuff bro, sure youll get it running tomorrow. Cold start y0!

Was SO wide before! Front arches bloody drown them smoors even though they poke on the polo haha!

cheers boys!

yeah hopefully ill get it started! this engines only gotta last a few weeks anyways! if i cant find an ABD lump in time i may just use the NZ bottom end.

yeah the wings are silly hah. I'm on the hunt for new wings and a new front bumper ATM

You gonna sell this after the polo's sorted then dude?

Any progress on the engine?

Looks like a nice project, seems a shame for it to be in that condition from the orginal photos, looks like its had a rough couple of years! what you going to use it for when your done? daily? or selling it on?

  • Author

yeah it was so mint before i was modified!

I'm not surre wether i will sell yet. i will see how it ends up with the engine ect first then decide. i will most likely keep it though if I'm honest as I've missed it ever since it was sold!

engine is going well max. completed the bike carb conversion yesterday, just need to get it started today. this engine is only temporary untill i find an ABD bottom end anyway.

oh and i put the smoors on.

Lol them wheels look tiny, like the cats did on my jetta.

Id get it running ok for now, then spend some time building a nice little engine for it.

Keep it once its done. Always good to have a few cars to choose from. Especially when you break one.

  • Author

yeah I'm gonna build a 1.4 ABD on bike carbs for it.

got everything i need apart from the bottom end and new headbolts already

Head bolts are like 50p each aren't they? With discount etc.

ABD bottom end is a must be honest, you'll need all the torque you can get with the heavier chassis etc.

Think i'll end up sticking the AEE in the jetta now.

  • Author

for the afh it was about 20 quid for the set so idk

finding a bottom end is proving difficult however!

You only need the ABD crank and pistons if that makes any differance.

i cant be assed to take it all apart though mate. just want to bosh an engine in

Well I hope you get a decent engine mate - tbh a scrappy is probably safer than buying one off here unfortunately

  • Author

Just got this home. Fuck me the engine is bolloxed more than i thought haha.

This means that I'm not gonna have time to build up an engine while i run this one into the ground.

So now i need to find an ABD literally tonight or tomorrow, or the complete NZ lump is going in. Ill fire some pics up in a minute

Hahaha, the NZ maybe ok, might be worth cleaning the oil pickup & breather pod and doing an oil and filter swap?

  • Author

Yeah i spose i could always whip the sump off quick.

I was just worried because at sustained high revs it starts tapping its nuts off lol

ABD engines are pretty hard to find.

Have you tried ebay?

Carbs on

managed to limp it home on 3 cylinders due to a blocked carb.

Was still leaking oil like it used to.

As a result, engine is being replaced for my spare 1.3 NZ with gt cam

Edited by erixtar1992

Bet your mrs' parents love you!

You whipping the engine out and putting the old NZ in then?

30918_1384167038907_802578_n.jpg

Eric, do you still have these wheel trims (not the centre caps)

If so, will you please sell them to me?
