Purchased this vw polo 1.2, has quite a few miles, 95,000 but has full service history! also I am a truck technician so should be able to fix most problems I any occur (touch wood)

This is my first car, really liked the polo's because of what I have seen on, can make them look quite nice for not big dollars! I really like this forum too, you guys have given me some good future ideas for what to change!

This is my bog standard, vw polo E, 1.2 engine three pot, standard alloys etc!

Future plans, the major things will be done after I pass my test hopefully by end of January:

Audi tt completion alloys

Ta tech coilovers

Tinted windows

Plans for now:

Remove rear wiper setup

Black/carbon coloured front and read badges

You alloys are ten times better than what came on mine standard, looks good as it is now!

This is some work off today, gti grill trim- cost £5.50 from eBay- really easy to fit and looks smart!

Also metal pressed plates front and rear from eBay- cost £24 - really excellent quality and came with all the legal bits so are a legal :)

Since I got the car couple weeks ago I have since Valeted the car, polished the dash, hoovered seats and carpets and used glass cleaner to get the mirrors and windows sparkling!

Today, pink anti freeze arrived (the long life stuff) so drained the header tank as only two bubbles were floating on the anti freeze test! And filled with anti freeze, now spot on the mark!

Also today, hammerite chassis paint arrived, so spent an hour or so spraying underneath the car in black, just to protect it from all the water and salt on the roads, will stop the corrosion :) sorry no pictures as you can imagine it was very messy so didnt fancy running the new phone!

Did you rub it down before applying the hammerite?!

Nope I didn't, it was all in perfect condition apart from rear axle. Which had slight rust and the exhaust, it stuck alright and will do it for over the winter :)

Today I fitted a new rear badge, it has a carbon effect background and is sprayed black satin, purchased this for only £4 inc postage on eBay!! Real bargain as the seller wanted £15 but had no reserve!

I removed the old badge with a heat gun and plastic trim removal tools came off fine and cleaned up the badge position stuck no problem!

Also I fitted a washer jet cover to the rear wiper, this is just until I de wiper it when the weather becomes

Next mods are going to be black painted calipers and drums and remove the front badge and spray it satin black :)

Also remove that awful polo badge!

Been tempted to look for a clean Lupo or wait until I'm 21 and get a 6R R-Line from my work recently but I do love my 9N. Just struggling for ideas and need someone to work on it with

Ah I see! Yeah that sounds good! Is your 9n just standard? Thought about alloys or coilovers maybe?

Got a set of 14's for free from work, took them for a refurb and they're on there now, lowered on 50mm springs until I can afford a set of coilovers. Got a thread on here with a few pictures and stuff

Today I removed all wheels and sprayed the calipers/ drums with black heat resistant spray paint.

Also spray chassis protector on suspension and A arm components to protect them and cover the rust

Then I cleaned all the wheels with wonder wheels and washed them down, brilliant stuff makes them so shiny!! I then placed the wheels from the front to back, basically because of tread wear, also wire wheeled and the studs and copper slipped them before replacing

I then removed the front grill and popped the badge out, pretty easy just have to be careful, I used a screwdriver to pop it out. I then applied two coats of primer and them 2 coats of black satin

Then I put magnetic L plates on ready for tomorrow when my learner driver insurance starts

Be really carefull with them L plates dude, they scratched the hell out of my bonnet and boot lid but at this time it was too late and are to deap to get out. I put them on the rear wiper blade and front windscreen, against the law but who cares. Advise to put masking tape behind them next time.

the magnetic plates are crap they come off when you hit 30 the best ones i had were the self adhesive ones from wilkos just peel a tiny bit (cm at top cm at bottom) of the backing paper off at the top and bottom and stick them on. I had them on for a few months will no ill affects took them off to clean the car and that was it always put a new one on after as they are less than a quid for 2 i used a magnetic one on the back though. with no scratches just wip[e the pintwork down before attaching them and wipe the magnetic bits and you will be fine.

Also why paint over the rust? you are better off sanding it back to clean metal then treating it or it will carry on eating away at the metal

Basically it's what we use for chassis on trailers and chassis at work, just slight wire brush and spray it on, just coats it, doesn't come off and just protects it from getting worse

Over the Christmas period I have made a couple changes to the car:

First Santa brought me some ring automotive xenon white headlight bulbs, when I first fitted them in day light couldn't really tell the difference but when it was dark I can see how they are 100% brighter, real good quality!

These are around £20 for the set

Also I taxed it, £75 for 6 months!!! And bought a richbrook tax disk holder from eBay for £10 new

Also got a snap on seat cover for Christmas too for when I travel to work

I didnt these are just xenon white bulbs, says 100% brighter will do for the moment to keep my nose clean and not get pulled!

Well today took off the polo badge which I had been meaning to do for a while il put a pic up tomorrow so looks a little neater!

Next I'm thinking de wiper the back and look around for some different alloys, not 100% on what I want anymore, any ideas?
