i started a new topic saying hello with a few pics of my car

well, its been a few hours now and my post still hasnt appeared :/

seems slow and clunky their website IMO

Without wanting to put local groups downa and such, I don't really see the point. This place must surely have most polo modifiers (and more!) on it so why go elsewhere? It's a little like polo3, it offers something a little different (POTM) but little else. The for sale section is practically full of the same stuff but visited a fraction so often. The people are the same and the banter is still a little bitchy at times. Personally I'd say time spent on these smaller projects would be better spent making this place even better.

I've often thought a section on here for local clubs would be a good idea, with those running their current sites just doing so through here but with he same skins etc as the main site. That way these people could run and have their own club sites but more people are likely to come across them. Would also draw more of the polo community together, which in light of Walshy's passing and the associated stories, could do with happening again. Would hopefully prevent these small start up sites from dying on their arses so soon, give them more publicity and hopefully we'd attract non-polo driving 'mates', increasing traffic through here even more.

So just as the traders section is run by the individual traders with associated sub-fourms, the same could be for these smaller groups within clubpolo. Obviously we'd need to limit the number somehow, by location or something, and moderate it so there wouldn't be huge amounts repetition of content. But giving each local group to chat about their own local events and ssuch may work, whilst members post up their querries, as usual, in the relevant tech sections etc. That way the majority of polo based material is in one place whilst the individual clubs get to maintain an identity of their own where their friends can come post too

UK Polos has been around almost as long as Club Polo as we now know it. I actually started out on there before coming here! These days Its quieter than it used to be and seems to cater more for owners of newer Polos, as owners of other stuff have migrated to here or Polo3. Its stayed the same size, whilst Club Polo just grew and grew.

Cp is not the central universe for polo's, not everyone likes this site or the type of people that use it and they prefer to use other polo related sites. No harm in that at all, and I very much doubt the people that run and prefer to use these other polo sites would have any interest in migrating their site to here

ClubG40 is run by some of the same people that run this site, they went through the hassle of setting up another site for a reason, they are not just gonna shut it down and move here because someone wants to make searching for info less effort.

That wasn't my point. Clubg40 caters for a very specific type of polo, for which there is plenty of info. It's also a fairly busy site so obviously doesn't need to join another. However, these smaller, local club sites don't have the traffic to support them, or make them worthwhile visiting. Even if they are very good sites, with lots of info etc. I have little chance of visisting them because I don't know they exist.

I take the point about UK polos being for newer polos, but that's kind of my point. Surely amalgamating all of that info with the info here (which is mostly older variants) would make a certain amount of sense? It's more of an idea to bring the various clubs together, as much as the information stored there.

Kind of sums up my point. I would have thought it would have been in the majority of people's interest to want to come together. I often feel the Polo 'scene' is a little fragmented (although probably no more than any other) and unifying everything would aid that. It's not about making clubpolo the biggest, but rather sharing ideas and supporting the smaller groups within a more stable framework.

Why not scrap club polo and migrate to edition38? It's a bigger site and caters for polo's as well as all the other vw's so it would make more sense to just have one massive site that caters for all, all the info in one place

I guess thats a fair enough point, but then there is a point at which a forum becomes too big and unmanageable. I see as well that not everyone would want to use this site due to the people on it. But if more people were on the forum, it would maybe become less 'cliquey' (as I'm sure thats how its likely viewed, similar to how many view e38 etc.). But it's not going to happen, so I'm not going to get upset about it

uk-polos way back when was almost as popular as here, it catered for earlier cars way more than porka.net did at that time.

I haven't used it for a very long time. The guy who set it up (Josh?) sold his polo in about 2003! For it to still be going at all is quite the achievement.

True that. But the fact its full of kids with no idea is also true, well not really full, but theres a decent percentage of them. I could mention threads that prove that but we all know what they are/ were!

Never really liked UK polos, when i 1st got the polo i was on both... but it gradually just ended up being here i always came to, as UK polo's was slow, boring, and i just got ignored. So fuck it

When I first came to the "vw scene" I had a standard golf 1.6 driver, joined ed38 put a friendly post up in the correct section with a few pictures just to say hello etc. Had well over 20 replies with a couple of hellos but the majority was all bitching so I have never been back there and probably never would.

Got my polo and did a google search for polo forums, didn't even check any of the others and came straight here. Not sure why, the only thing I can think if us that it had "club" in the name which makes me think of how this place actually is, you go shows, meet people, chat and have a laugh etc. I tend to think of places such as UKpolos as chavvy, not saying they are but it's all in the title... UKstreetcars, UKmodified etc etc just from the sites show a chavvy side to them so any forum that starts with 'UK' puts me off.

Also I'm on here too much to be on any other site and like it here. Can understand everyone's points but personally I wouldn't want them to all come together as you would get all the chavs joining up and yes it may do the club good but I could just see it becoming spammed with bitching people etc... Just my 2p worth
