Hey.

Got a set of yamaha R6 bike carbs on my golf.

Last week i took them to work and chucked them in the parts cleaner ect so they looked nice and fresh.

Put them on the car but its misfiring on cyl#4.

There is fuel in the float bowl, but if i put my finger down the carb throat its bone dry where the others are wet.

I took the main jets and emulsion tubes out last night and they were clear, as was the pilot jet.

Any ideas where the blockage could be??

Are you sure the slider is operating? I had problems with the top gasket, which looses the vacuum and doesnt let the slide/needle assembly function as it should.

No fuel at idle... Why would the slide affect it..

No mention of your problem being at idle?

How about the pilot screws?

Its the whole rev range.

2.5 turns each. That wouldnt stop all fuel either would it.

It sounds very much as if there is a blockage in one of the passageways (drillings).

Suggest that you strop the offending carb down and wash it out in either carb cleaner or cellulose thinners and then blow out the passages with compressed air.

An old guy at work recommeds to run the engine at around 3K, then quickly slam your hand over the inlet to the carb, the vacuum caused should help to try and suck the blockage free.

I've done that max. Tried it loads at all different rpms
