I'm looking at SEAT Ibiza 6k2's (1999-2002) and I'm specifically after the 1.4 16v 100hp version, but so far I've found no way of telling which engines are in which models, I've not even been able to tell which ones are 8v and which are 16v, let alone tell the difference between the 75 and 100hp 16v ones! So can somebody please help me out with this cause it's doing my head in haha. I'm starting to think there may not even be 16v Ibizas? but I would expect there to be, just like with the equivelant Polos, plus Wikipedia says they exist, but obviously there's a possibility of that being wrong.

The 99~02 is a 6K1 and according to Autodata & elsawin there were four 16v option engines APE & AUA 75bhp AQQ & AUB 100bhp but when I asked a similar question on the ibizaoc.co.uk I was told they never did a 16v in the MK3 6K1 chassis??? Externally there is'nt anything to tell the two different power units apart, you will just have to find the code on the engine or the data sticker in the boot

Out of interest is your Ibiza cool/s an 8 or 16 valve?

It's a rubbish 8v see my posting about it in the "Engine" technical section.

If your going to buy one check all the functions on the radio/heater control panel, as if anything is faulty you will need to get the radio unit repaired/replaced as all the heater functions also go through it!! £60 for the repair from a guy on ebay or take your chances with a secondhand unit. That's what the guys on the ibizaoc site are saying, yet Autodata & ElsaWin show the four variants of the 1.4 16v as being fitted to the 99~02 6K1 chassis, maybe they just were'nt an option in the UK??

The Ibiza definatley came with a AUB 100bhp I'm certain!!!
