Well if the 272 doesn't have issues i would use that with 3f set up

332 would need a hell of a comp ratio otherwise it'll be absolutely gutless anywhere bellow 5-6k imo

Wouldn't it just lmao I cam across it the other day it's only £125 but who in the right mind would buy it unless you had a big budget or a cup car lol I was thinking of buying and keeping hold of just incase lol

How high of a cr would it need

No fear of getting that without big modifications. You're talking mildly tuned G40 power there.

100 will be more achievable, but even that's almost doubling the stock power

Which? 332? Very high wouldn't be much of a road car lol alot of money and mods would be needed lol be cool as F tho

Get the spanners out and have a go!! Hopefully picking any of the mods ( not the 332 ) mentioned will put the car on the right path in regards to hp. Hopefully you wouldn't go backwards.

see the cam thread in this section recently regarding valve clearance with a 272 - isnt an issue apparantely!

id rather have a 120hp G than a 130hp NA 1.3 lol. i know which would be more fun and faster regardless of numbers

I'm thinking of new cam 264 just for little bit more poke but aj is going go all way with the 332 :). Do it do it do it

well 130hp isnt the target, the target is 100hp, i just want to get the most out of my 1.3 engine without going down the route of buying ecus and stuff as at the moment its just a 1.3 8v carbed,

all of this engine work is just a stepping stone for a year or so until i have another car to drive and take the saloon off the road as i have big plans for the saloon

G40's are great but there is still a lot of fun to be had with an n/a motor. Both would be so different 120 g40 vs 130 n/a it'll be like chalk and cheese

Stop bullying me into buying thing fran :p

Not all 3F engines have double valve springs. These are only 'better' in a higher revving engine. It'll take a few modifications before valve springs become limiting, but worth looking out for

does anyone have a picture these DUBBLE VALVE SPRINGS in a 3f head or out of it ?

Ill look, but basically it's a small thinner spring inside the traditional spring your thinking off.

The 332 cam is for a totally different head/tappet design to the 3F engine so you can't extrapolate the valve durations between them.

Even still, you guys are right, the cam would be useless without extra work...

I thinking of dropping the gt lump out next year and g40 in but I'd need sort body out before all this. What you guys think

Do it.

The duration isn't really a problem so long as the lift isn't huge. Also, the severity of the cam lobe will have an effect i.e is the ramping is very steep, that will allow a greater lift/duration combo as the valve can stay open at max lift for longer as it shuts quicker as the piston approaches tdc. It's not as easy as duration and lift. Also you want to know where lift is quoated from. Is that max lift from the valve seat proper or 1mm from the seat?

Fran no leave golf as is :p

some good info on here!

Got myself 3F double valve springs, 3F pistons, 3F cam (030 AF, 9.6mm lift), a weber 32/34 dmtl, soon another 4-2-1 and hopefully another GT head to flow along with a facet silver fuel pump. What figures do you reckon id get? oh and i have ported my inlet manifold ,de-hedgehogged it and de-wedged the weber adaptor plate. ill be using the std airbox with a k&n element in it. cheers dudes :)

It's hard to say, the standard gt is 75 bhp but the weber 32/34 won't fuel aswell as digi gt set up. Manifold will help and when you fit the ported head it'll also help. So I couldn't possibly guess. Should all be an improvement though
