Mk2 coupe. Mars red. Ats classics

Featured Replies

Right I've been on here a while and have decided to make a build thread so here goes.

Brought this 1983 coupe in January this year it was up for sale real cheap so couldn't resist. Here's how it looked on the advert pics

Picked it up from Milton Keyes which was a 2 hour drive from me. Had a look over the car saw good and bad bits blah blah money exchanged hands and drove it back without any problems apart from fuel pump leaking a bit of fuel.

Got it into my work to check out the work that needed doing.

Did the respray on it came out pretty mint then put the car back together and was finally finished :)

Took about 2 weeks from start to finish working on it every night after work. was a bit of a bastard but was happy when i finished it :)

Then a mate was selling some Schmidt space wheels with tyres pretty cheap so brought them and refurbed them in black with red dish

Got rid of the Schmidts in the end as they were 16" and just looked way to big on the car so was rolling with original steels for a bit and added a roof rack

Took to v-dub island ( a Volkswagen festival on Isle of Wight )

Then got a set of Audi 80 sport wheels on it 14". Not the best looking wheels but better than steelies

Then got a phil j 80/60 kit put that on 80/80 got rid of the roof rack and got some sweet ats classics and here is how it stands today

As for engine not much has happened just gave it a service got new fuel pump and alternater any little things that

weren't up to scratch got changed it passed the MOT fine couple of advisorys but there get sorted in due time as I use this as my daily :)

Hope you all like what I've done and its another mk2 saved and back on the road so that's good

  • This was my first car! Do you still have it? I bought it from an old guy who lived across from my Grandad's house he had owned it since new, you've done a nice job of it mate looks sweet.

Arr you lucky boy!

Looks great with the respray, can't wait to re-spray mine! though i doubt it will look anything like that.

Good stuff.

Cheers mate

I'm sure your respray will come out fine :)

Not sure weather to start making this thing a little faster I don't really know much on the mechanical side of things but a bit more power would be sweet what's the best way to go about it without a new engine ??

Have a look through the engine technical section my friend, everything is covered.

looks great mate!

Cheers mate. Wouldn't be able to say a rough price for respray without seeing the car in person there's loads of things that could change the price as well. Your best off popping to a local bodyshop for a quote :)

Looks stunning with the classics on!

Can you check the history of owners? I for the life of me cant think of the reg plate of my old red mk2 but think this could well be it!!

looks awesome! exactly how i wanted my old coupe :(

How can I find out owner history ? Only got the last owners name on log book and that it's had 5 owners. Is there any specific detail about it I could look for to see if its yours ?

This is so awesome that I just had to go onto the selecta thing on 'polo-land.fr'

Here you go :)

Nothing has happened on the car recently. I'm on the hunt for a different brake set up for the front because I want to get rid of wheel spacers that I've got on at the moment because there making the front wheels poke to much for my liking and without them the classics won't clear the brake carriers. But on another note I painted these today for my mates 6n2
