Hello all I'm a newbie have purchased a full eng conversion , afh eng, loom, ecu, driveshafts, gearbox, keys with immob chip, immob ring, everything but I'm confused on wiring it into my mk3 you are saying i need the fuse box from mk4 whoch i have but u also state i need ignition wiring which i do not think i have can sum1 enlighten a total thick shit on wiring it up please (fuel injection)

  • 2 weeks later...

Can u use the 5speed box that came with my afh eng or do i need to use a polo mk3 5spd box

James click on my profile and and look though my content. read through ym build thread I'm sure it will help a little.

And also this picture shows what is what on the mk4 early fusebox.

Thick red wire - through the bulk head attatch to battery

yellow plug(red wire)- I believe the yellow plug is the fuel pump live.

the 3 while blocks - through the bulk head and all go to the ecu and the engine wiring loom (round twist connector)

red block connector - This is is to be spliced into your ignition. believe its 3 wires to splice iirc.

main Brown wire - Earth (not pictured) - Plugs into the opposite end of the main red live on fusebox (and goes to the battery -tve)

There are one or two others to connect up for the imobiliser and the OBD plug not very well pictured here. I'll add another picture of my own when i get a chance.

I know your planning to do your conversion in a week, but there is so much you can do in the build up to your week off without taking the car off the road like fixing in the fusebox, spicing into your ignition, the brakes, mount the fuel pump ready etc etc. it'll all help you try and do it in that one week window you aiming for but I'm gonna say its unlikely you'll finish lol.

Top man

Would very much like a better pic of the obd on the fuse box plssss

When I'm in the garage I'll get them. Only a few wires to get that up and running. Mines just hanging down now as I've got the fusebox dropped down but when it's setup I fitted it into the coin holder under the steering wheel (mk2).

Mines for the fusebox and odb stuffed behind the centre console but obd only has 3 wires going to it???

yeah thats all it is. 3 wires.

Here we go heres some pics, they're just links as I cant use the img code from dropbox for some reason, ill move them to my photobucket later.

heres the back of my fusebox. So as I put in a previous post, the 3 white blocks are for the ecu/engine loom, the red one next to it has the 3 wires which spice into your mk2/2F ignition, The blue plug runs to the transponder, then the chip reader ring, that plugs into the transponder box. Theres a small black plug hidden behind the main earth there, think thats the one for the obd plug. Simple as that, and the AFH lives ! :D

The OBD pulled out on the seat for all to see..

This is it all in place fitted. Ring under the wheel, OBD in he coin holder, and fusebox attateched to undertray.

Rite leggy, Going to be dropping in a afh to my mates saloon,
Using injection etc and he wants me to drop the avy internals into the block.
Sure guy said theres abit of a flat spot on injection whenrunning 1.6
I'm at work so dont quote me but didnt you get a chip/map to get this sorted.
Muchos grasisisisissis :) !

Polo ace used to do a chip that removed the flat spot from the map on the standard afh that gave a little power increase too. I did ask him if these could be used with the 1.6 but he didn't seem to get what I was going on about

you are wiring looms different to mine i aint got a second red block with 3wired coming oit of it tht go to the ignition
