Hi all i seem to have trouble getting a the bulb to "sit still" in the hold. tried everything and cant seem to work.

do you have to buy a specific HID kit for the polo? I'm using one that i used on my 306

car is a 9n3

any help appreciated cheers

You know you get different types of bulbs?

yea i know bout the bulbs etc h4 h1 h7 ....the bulbs on the polo are h7 and the hids are h7. ill grab a pic of them tomorrow so you can see what i mean. Just cant get the thing to physically stay in place

Have you taken the metal retainer off the connector and put it on the bulb? Or are you using an adaptor to twist on?

Also, best off using h7r, as they are super glary without, they are only around a tenner the pair new.

The 2 white wires plus into where the bulb would go but having trouble securing the new bulb in place if that makes sense

The OEM connection. Will get pics tomorrow to help explain better

On H7 Lamps there is normally a little wire clip that holds the bulbs.

You are also aware for a 9n3 you need H7R bulbs due to the lights being a reflector type?

was unaware i needed H7R - cheers cymro

i will sell these and buy some H7R - probs fit no problem then.

I found that the bulbs were a little too long to fit into the housing, just got it in and no more. Pretty sure they were touching though.

You need the Reflector type because the other type of bulb just scatters the light, these don't do it as badly.

I had a set for comparison and the difference was outstanding.

The bulb itself if no different though, it's just got a bit of tape around it that stops glare.

The H7 are for main beam I have just fitted a set to my SDI.

Don't sell em send them back they will change them.

They look well used, so new ones won't hurt. Look on eBay for h7R you should find them for less then a tenner delivered. Look for the metal bodied ones as they are a little thinker then the plast based ones.

Also you will either need an adapter as the bulbs are held in with a metal cage that twists into the fitting. You can either buy them (ebay ~£10) or, as I did you can simply in hook the ones attached to the electrical connector AMD gently slide the hid bulb wires through the hole and then just use that.

I've used both H7 and H7R and i have to say , By what looks like small markings on the bulb it makes a hell of diffrence.

from what i can see the difference between 4300k and the 12000k is simply the bulbs tend to shine a lighter white/blue? Thinking of doing 8000k as its nice in the middle?

4300k is yellow

6000k is white (best option IMO)

8000k they have blue tint (police start to notice you )

10000k very blue

12000k purple

6000k is Oem (white with flash of blue)

Until last month I ran 3000k, I'm now on 4300k.

While being back on whites is normal I do miss the way the yellows picked out everything.

Well I bought 6000k after. Nvm. Can't see one so I may do a fitting guide for them when they arrive

Fitting guide is going to be added to the FAQ, its just trying to work out which methods are better to describe, some kits have extra parts or alternate methods of fitting etc.

The good kits are straight forward, the cheaper made kits in some cases are terrible, with poor instructions and even worse wiring.

I have also discovered in my reading that some ballasts are so badly made that placing them next to certain electrically sensitive components can cause malfunction of that component.

well i finally managed to fit the passenger side in, lost a bit of knucle skin along the way but it worked.

just got to figure out how to do the drives side,think it will be headlight out job cause buggar me there is no room at all on the 9n3
