oo its a polo 6n 1.4 16v lol :(

i have a 16v box if you want it.

No leaks, noises or issues until sudden failure?

bad timing man :(

can pick up a box fairly cheap on here :)

Just make sure you know if you need a rod or cable change

then fit it yourself, its relativly straight forward once you get going

Driveshafts 6 bolts each

gear linkages 1 bolt

Clutch cable pops out

3 bolts gearbox to engine

2 bolts gear box to starter motor

3 bolts for rear gearbox mount

2/3 bolts for main gearbox mount

wiggle it off

change the clutch while its accessable

wiggle a new box on

put your bolts back in

drive away smiling :D

can be done in a day at home with a basic socket set, a M8 12point spline bit for the driveshafts and a couple of trolley jacks and axle stands :)

They're easy - 2 hours tops

I always struggle getting it off. And on is worse! Fight for ages trying to get it up past the back lump of the subframe. Been thinking about loping it off everytime I take the box off.

Isn't bad, if you're on your own just rest the box on a trolley jack and it slots straight on

I must be doing this wrong... ahahahaa.

I find the engine isn't low enough (at a good enough angle), or not far enough forward.

Y U COME OUT BUT NO BACK IN?!

When the engine's hanging i find there's plenty of clearance, especially on a 6n. Hooking the drive flange over the flywheel is key, as is getting the clutch plate well centred.

Changed the clutch/flywheel on our MK4 Golf TDi a couple of weeks ago, the diff housing was a right bitch to get past the subframe. Especially back up, because the Golf box is a bit heavier than the 085!
