mk3 polo wiring check (Ignition coil)

Featured Replies

Good evening everyone i was wondering if i could grab some help, I have a wiring diagram (Pictured below) and i was wondering if anyone could help me....

Could anyone tell me what color the wires are coming from the ignition coil, From the diagram i believe that the ignition coil is labeled number 36 on the diagram.

Now, The positive on the coil should be 15? Am i right? Meaning that the color should be Black? Is this correct?

Then the negative will be the number 1 ? So the wire color will be Brown? Is this correct?

Here's the diagram

On the Amplifier (21)

Pin 1 Brown = Ground/Earth

Pin 3 Black = 12v supply

Pin 2 Black/Green? = Signal from ecu

on the coil (36)

15 +12v

1 Switched Ground from the Amp (21)

Those wires on the actual ignition coil (item 36)do NOT connect directly to positive and negative (+&-) They are connected to item 21, which I have always known as an ignition 'amplifier', but which your diagram names as the 'end stage of the ignition transformer'

From memory, the connection to terminal 2 of the amplifier is black with a green tracer.

the connection to terminal 3 of the amplifier is black

the connection to terminal 1 of the amplifier is the earth, which, as you say, should be brown.

Regards.

Edited due to the " not coming out as very legible.
