How you thinking about connecting it up to the wiring of the car?

I was considering this for the impreza.

I'd relocate the CD player, and make a surround (fibreglass) for a cheap tablet over where the CD player was. I'd use a 3.5mm aux lead going from the tablet to the CD player for music, films etc, and i'd have an alternate USB lead to a power supply to charge the tablet.

Pretty simple to do, and the desired effect could be excellent, especially with the touchscreen etc.

I'm thinking of using a 3.5mm Jack to Rac then hook that to a amp for the speakers and sub some sort of volume /equalizer and for the power run it to the fag lighter socket to charge when needed.

Just need to think about making a dock

Pretty much fitted a hard case back. So you can clip it in and out

Yeah was thinking about a hard case with some mods to make a dock

3.5mm jack to CD player isn't really going to give the best sound. The alpine xda-300 (along with other models) allows connection via a standard ipod connector. You can then control playback from the HU or the ipod. This would give better sound. Some XDA range players also charge. Whether they are compatible with an ipad is another question.

I'm not having a cd player just using tablet
