Builds that inspire you...

Featured Replies

I have a record of a few car builds that I enjoy and ones that inspire me and I wondered if you guys also had any saved that I/other people could browse over? Obviously Polo builds are super but we already have a huge library of those here so I'm more curious to see some non-polos but honestly post whatever floats your boat (: The way I see it is that they don't need to be massively complex but just something that has good results (:

Here's 2 I like to begin with (non-polo):

Cosworth powered Starlet (some of you may have seen this in Retro Cars recently alongside a certain MK1 Polo...)

A green smeg fridge, I mean Lupo...

And I suppose I'll put a polo one for good measure as I love this thread:

Kat's openair

Post away!

kats openair I've been to one of her southasmptons meets met here but not here car

the green lupo i love the colour but want a 1.8t lump in one

what is it about ridiculously rusty VW's people like so much?

what is it about ridiculously rusty mini's people like so much?

some cars are sought after and good ones demand a good price, sometimes the only way to get into ownership without the high price tag is by buying from the bottom of the market, although some people just seem to have a perverse attraction to welding

old fords like to rust, but because they are so popular even really far gone one's are worth saving, at least the one in the link i posted the builder will know its been repaired to a good standard, unlike some of the 'repairs' he has uncovered along the way

what is it about ridiculously rusty mini's people like so much?

Are you telling me that there are old Minis out there that aren't rusty? :?

Yeah shit loads

Attempting to make derogatory comments towards certain cars really doesn't work when the person attempting it hasn't got a clue what they are talking about. Just a heads up for future reference

It's this kind of long-term commitment and attention to detail that inspires me

Wow, you actually think I was being serious... Of course there is rust free Minis, people restore them and the last ones are barely what, 12/13 years old.

That was more a general heads up rather than being aimed at a specific comment. You could of possibly tried to pass the above off as a shit attempt at a joke/wit, if it was the only comment you had made like that in this topic. It seems like if its an early polo or some old Volvo you bum the fuck out of it, anything else gets posted and you post some dig thinly disguised as you acting stupid/ignorant.

I just really like good build threads any make or model. As long as they have loads of pictures showing how things are going together and work that's been done. :)

Your build thread ain't bad ;)

I'm not sure whats happened to it, as there haven't been updates for a while, but this thread for the amount of fabrication that goes into a 'rust free' car .

Theres also a few threads on here for sheer attention to detail during restoration and preparation.

I only really like build threads that are complete - nothing worse than getting into it and enjoying the progress, only to get to the last post and it's incomplete. You see it's taken months to get that far, so..

That isn't too bad if they don't take months to post again, I think the best threads are a continual progression as nothing is ever truly finished but when it is left hanging at a big point it's a bit of a let down, usually happens when you just begin to get really into it as well. Also get annoyed when people have a good build and then go and delete it with complete disregard for the fact that it makes up a part of my online library... xD

Totally agree with that, couple of people have done it on here and wonder why they get hate in the empty topic they've rinsed out for 'mods delete, no longer own the car' like what, how selfish..? Loads of inspiration there for plenty of people and they wipe it because they bought a Citroen.. tossers!

need more build links and less chatter
