Featured Replies

Putting my mk2 up for sale/p.x as I want something a little bit newer.

Basic details

Jade Green

3 door

1.6 driver on Weber carb (read below)

96k miles

MOT until September 2013

Tax until end of February 2013

Mods

JOM coilovers, probably done around 5k miles, helpers out, and bumpstops out on the front, and spring caps shaved down (still have helpers and bumpstops)

mk3 top mounts (allows the shaved spring caps to sit properly)

Chassis notch on the drivers side

Tie rod notch on both drivers and passenger side (all notches done professionally. Sealed, welded and undersealed

Arches flattened all round

Compomotive TH Mono's 15x8 et25 all round, all mint apart from slight curbing on one of the wheels on the top of the rim (not very deep or noticeable)

165/50 nankangs all round, covered around 1000 miles

5mm cheap universal spacers on the rear

Interior

GTI front seats from a 3door in very good condition (drivers side doesnt lean forward)

Early style centre console

Early style 2 spoke steering wheel

Boot turret carpets

Rear currently stripped out (although I still have rear seats (non GTI), seat belts, parcel shelf etc that I can re-fit)

Bad points

Main problem is the engine. I think the carb needs setting up properly as the car is currently getting very poor MPG. It's averaging around 18-25mpg around town, and 30-35 on a run

The engine is also burning oil and when the car gets warm you can smell it whilst driving

In the cold weather the choke needs to be out until the car warms up other wise the car struggles when you accelerate (thing this is normal)

I believe the driveshaft is going as there is a knocking noise when accelerating, its been doing it for a few weeks but doesn't feel like its going to give way, but replacing it would probably be a good idea

Theres a fair bit of rust on the car, mainly front of the rear arches, a hole on the bottom of the passenger wing (isn't too much of a problem as it just goes up behind the wing), few bits on the door. Although the underneath has had holes all welded up so its all solid

There is 2 small holes at the bottom of the windscreen which cause the footwelds on both sides get a bit damp, obviously in the summer when we don't get much rain  its not too much of a problem

There's a relatively large dent and scrape on the passenger door

Passenger side window doesn't work

There may be more that I'm forgetting and I'll put down if I remember them....

I realise there's quite a long list of problems but if you know what you're doing it really won't take a lot to fix them.

The car will be cleaned inside and out soon...

Now, I'm looking for £900, or £550 without the wheels (would rather sell with wheels)

May possibly be interested in P/X but really fancy an 316 e46 BMW, so if you have one we could make a deal.
