WHEELS STUCK ON?

Featured Replies

So today after nearly a year of owning my polo I've decided to take my wheels off to have a snoop round clean then up etc. however after removing everything, bolts etc the wheel wouldn't shift from the hub. Now I almost feel like I'm setting myself up here for a massive d**khead moment but can anyone suggest why they wouldn't come off? I put WD40 on them, I pulled and pushed at them with no joy. Confused as hell I gave up. Is it me or us it something else? HELP!

Try kicking the edges of the rim. I always do opposites (like left then right then left then right etc...)

dont be afraid to put some force behind it.. but remember the car is jacked up so not too hard!!

jack the car up and hit the tyre with a rubber mallet then rotate the wheel, repeat until it comes off

i had this problem with some wheels i had powdercoated, the centre bore was marginally smaller because of it

go to the gym

i used to have this problem with my 6n ... just kick it till it comes off

Sorry :p

chances are it was just rusted on abit :) good tap with a mallet around the rim will free it up :)

Isn't uncommon, just don't damage the rim or tyre executing whatever method

as everyone else said give it a good kick or hit the tyre with something but make sure the car is secure like on axle stands not a widow maker jack

failing that a friend used to roll the car back an forth with the bolts loose but you will need to replace those bolts and I take no responsibility for any damage done using this method lol

just give the tyre a kick and it will come off, dont hit it like a girl lol

one of mine did the same so i had to use a gear puller lol get a hub nut socket put it on the hub nut and put a wheel bolt in the hole of the socket and then place the puller with the center screw on the wheel bolt and place the legs to grip the holes in the face of your wheels and start winding that puller on lol will pop it straight off ;)

Meaty method but it works, jack the car up block of wood behind the wheel hit wood spin wheel hit wood spin wheel to it comes off.

Weapon of choice is up to you, on my mk2 we used a sledge hammer because it was raining and we didn't want to hang about haha

You bunch of anmails

Crack the nuts off and drive up the road steering left to right ala F1 tyre warming stile if the kicking trick doesn't work..

leave 2 bolts in , find a corner and rip the handbreak up and slide into the kurb , hey presto wheel is off in a jiffy

Joke , I had this on my valver just give it a bit of a shock (kick as said above) and they dropped off

Just jack the car up enough so the wheel will drop without falling on its face.. I made a school boy error when the car was jacked right up in the air... kicked it and the bloody thing fell face first onto the stones

could always put soome cardboard on the floor so it doesnt get damaged ;) ;) hah

That's an amazing idea. Jack the car right up and kick the utter shit out the wheel on a widow maker.

Actually, lie underneath the car and kick it from the back. Darwin makes this happen.

Retracted my first retort. The YOLO refers to a chance spelling on my number plate. As I'm not as into the only way is Essex and Geordie shore like yourself I wasn't aware of the connotations or anagram. But thanks for the helpful post.

I thought it was funnier before you edited the post

It was but then I thought better if starting a slanging match with a 20 year old McDonald's worker. Better things to do and more interesting posts to read.

Did you get the wheel off?
