quick question on my carb conversion

Featured Replies

The tap on the heater matrix, that's the main one - it's the only bleed tap on the system and is at the highest point. And is on the interior heater matrix. Just give it two turns and it'll let the air out like a half opened coke bottle cap.

Right so I have had a go and have managed to get coolent and air to bubble out the heater matrix tap, I jacked up the front of the car an had the blowers on full and engine running. Hopefully they will get hot now . The heater system is so pap on the polos , any one know about putting a better system in ? In ny women's Brava , its gets so warm really quickly

Why jack up?

Raising the radiator above where you're bleeding it from?

Jamie dub said to Jack up the front , think about it , when you top up the coolent normally , its in the expansion tank , which is higher than the bleed nipple. So I need to make were I top up the coolent from , higher than the bleed screw . Hence jacking up the front of the car , so the rad is higher than the bleed screw ?

Air generally makes its way to the highest point, that's why coolant de-gas tanks are generally the highest part of the system

On a saxo you get a 2l coke bottle, screw it into the expansion tank to create a "header" tank.

Problem solved.

Why does everyone have issues with cooling systems?

They virtually self bleed, my heater is fucking roasting and never have any temp issues, don't get why people struggle?

I don't have an expansion tank tho lol , maybe I could do that in future on the side fill , but would need to seal around the bottle top as its smaller than the side fill hole

whatever its called on the side of the radiator.

maybe the saxo rad is just lucky size wise as its just big enough to litrally screw the bottle in to form enough of a seal.

How about fill the system via the pipe that goes to the top of the polo expansion bottle? leave the bleed valve open, fill till water comes out the rad fill point, screw cap back on, then carry on filling till it sprays out the bleed valve.

Dont know why people fit rad filled systems, there loads more hassle.

lmao no. u dont jack it higher than the bleed screw. it defeats the point.

yer gaz mentioned that outlet on the thermostat housing, will do it wiv the coke bottle, give it a nice tight seal, cheers bud.

i never ever ... ever had issues bleeding my system when i had the expansion tank harris, just now that i dont have one. but it looks like i have a solution

What, re-fit the expansion tank..?

Ah ah ah didn't notice you had a top fill lol!

You can leave it on flat and bleed from heater or jack front up to ensure the rad fill point is highest, confused Nicholas :(

And put the heater on hot and also on fast.

Mark .. FULL WACK ;) lol

Hot and fast haha

You don't need the fan on, just the tap so the water circulates (that means turn the heater control to red lol).

Yeah don't need fan on really, although you can keep checking to see how you're progressing

soooooo turboing bike carbs lol / whos doing it ? and what build thread is it ?

Don't bother you can't even get an engine to turn over let alone run one boosted, thought it was rapid

Don't let Paris put you off, you wanna add a turbo you do it mate!

This i gotta see..

I'd like it done and it's possible I'm just being reasonable, some basic things appeared missed on yours just doing a well documented mod, so id certainly read up a lot first

Harris I'm no mechanic , but I learn as I go along , now I can go and do that carb conversion for some one else , or me again no problem .

I eventually get there , so I will be going ahead with this idea when I know all the fundamentals aha.

Cheers mikey

So some one must be doin this done were on this forum ?

There's a reliant robbing over road with 998 on bikecarbs with turbo..

Can be done, but then again that is a race team over there lol
