After over a month waiting for my payout I wondered what replacement to get and finally settled on a Mini Cooper-S. After looking around while waiting for my cheque from the insurance I found a lovely JCW bodykited model in my colour of choice up near Rochdale. The weekend before Christmas I collected it but havn't had much chance till now for a decent drive over the festive break. It drives like a dream, handles loads better then the ST, much nicer power delivery and much better on fuel, plus I was surprised it was exactly the same as my ST on insurance :-D

Keeping an eye out for a decent prices JCW exhaust and airbox plus some different wheels as the previous owner had these replacements off the roadster put on with the rubbish run flat tires. Been out for a decent run today with B-shaw and love it :-D

Lose the JCW badges, Paint the healight chromes black and it will look smart, shame you made the huge mistake of buying an R56 though, also is that some sort of weird aftermarket shift light on top of the steering column?

Plan to paint those black, possibly black bonnet scoop too. Already peeled the corner of the dash sticker off need to heat it for a clean removal still and exterior ones are stupidly pricey could be a decent ebay sale!

The shift light I'm told is a genuine optional extra having asked on a few mini forums and the previous owner

Whats so wrong with the R56 then? Only person I've heared who has anything negative to say about them apart from the tensioner issues

Are the exterior badges metal? If they are the R56 late spec badges they are worthless really, can be had new for less than £10, if they are original metal items, remove them and sell them or keep them boxed up, ask £40 plus for each badge in that case.
