Well I've woken up this morning with a hell lot more money in my account than i thought i had.

Checked the system and an ex employer (googled the Bank Giro Credit name) has paid me what looks like a months wages. I have not worked for this company for 2 and half years...

What would you do?

Give them a call, they will definitely notice. Most likely some other poor sod hasn't got their wages as a result!

deffo am ringing them back especially cause its christmas and all just curious what others would do

I would definitely give them a call and find out whats going on, more importantly why do they still have your details on their system ?

Depends on your conscious, if you spend it then it could be classed as theft, even though its there mistake.

Don't do anything at the moment In case someone does try to claim it back.

if no one asks about it by the middle of next week then its down to you if you report the mistake or not.

Just keep it sitting there for a month or two to be safe.

Companies make fuck up's all the time, sometimes they notice, sometimes they don't. Way I see it is that sitting on it for a couple of months isn't going to put you out of pocket in anyway and the worse that will happen is that they will take it back, if they don't notice then your quids in

They'll take it back I would have thought. I had a Dr friend who got overpaid, like twice as much. He thought he was in the money so had a bit of a spend up until his employer came knocking. To make up for the over payment he didn't get any wages for a few months. Apparently

I was over paid for about 2 years, the lads that had been on that shift before I started were over paid for as long as they were on it, non of us ever had any come backs. Also at that point both me and another lad had a bit of a tendency to get a phone call not long after the start of a night shift to say we had to go home for whatever made up reason, he used to do it a lot more than me and non of us could understand how he could afford it. He told me recently that for some reason everytime he went home early he still got paid for a full shift, he had no idea why and never brought it up because, well why would you?

Fair enough. I guess it depends on how well organised the employer is. I'd hate to have the money, spend it then have some arse ask for it back.

i got paid a months wages extra about a month ago, didnt say anything, and spent it for my xmas presents

company just rang me now and said they going to send a letter and bank details to an address of mine so just gota wait for that to come back now.. hopefully ill win the euros in return
