where the pipe connects to the filter it should have one of them annoying little clips that have a part which you push in to release it and pull from the filter

actually the new filter may have one on so you can see how it works

also might be worth having a few small jubilee clips spare

I tend to give them a spray with WD40 or similar, leave them then give them another spray and a bit of a wiggle.

Also helps to try and push the fitting further on when trying to squeeze the clip in..then when you've squeezed it in hold it and pull it back

There is a photo with a close up of the clips. They are identical to the polo clips. Do NOT break them. Also make a note of the direction of fuel flow before you take your old one off. A quick photo on your mobile phone will serve you well.

Got it off and replaced thank you guys for the advice and guidence

I'm trying to do mine at the moment and those clips are a pig!! Which bit do you squeeze? There is no play in mine at all?!?

That's a good photo of the old filter, I too have cut these things open and can't believe just how much muck there is inside. When all of the petrol has evaporated, you are left with what looks like very fine sand.

When I undertake these filter changes, I make sure that I have a length of petrol hose and some new clips at hand - it's a long walk to the local factors!

Managed it the end! Once I'd realised what I was supposed to be pushing in it was a doddle!!

I found it easier to push a flat head screwdriver into the push clip and then just pull the hose off, then unscrewed the filter bracket. Car idles much better now!! Can't believe the sediment that came out of the filter!!
