Hey! Welcome to the revival of a polo that was on here a while ago.

Theres a small story behind the purchase of this car...

A good friend managed to swap a pair of wheels for this little beaut. He had plans to bring it back to former glory in his own way, but as he already had his daily Driver it was put to one side and left to sit. Only for a month or two, untill my old Daily which was renouned for breaking down, broke down one to many times and i lost momentum to keep spending out and repairing it. I asked him if while mine was getting repaired if i could borrow the car as it was sitting with M.O.T and not doing anything. So that night i swapped insruance, taxed it and started to fall in love with it!

Few days in i had already managed to lock the keys in the car, break a friends finger who was helping with getting the keys out and then after filling the tank up it broke down on me.

Chased the fault to the Fuel pump so changed this and its running again!

While was fixing the fuel pump looked over the car a bit more to realise its potential. A deal was made and i purchased the car.

I haven't had chance to get any pictures, but some of you may have already seen it on here.

To get an idea how it is now.

And when i started to borrow it.

So there it is biggrin.gif

Needs a bit of tlc at the minute, but i think its a good base and has the potential inside I'm sure!w

The more boring near future plans are to restore some reliability with a full service, tidy up generally inside and out and just getting it looking clean enough to be the new daily.

Once get some more time and sell the old car the Exterior will have a full wrap once I've decided on colour and just to change the wheels to some steels I've got on my old car.

I'm generally quiet inpatient when i decide to do things, so haven't thought to much into it other than the basics.

More determined to take my time on this project and not rush into anything!

Wrapping? Really? A lot of money for a temporary finish. I'd respray if you have that sort of money to spare. Car looks solid and I love the gold colour

Wrapping is my day job, along with a lot of monster energy work so will be under 100 with a solid finish throughout. Then when the time comes touch in all the bits by a professional sprayer. Money will be a bit tight so getting the bits that are needed. E.g new back box as its rotted through, full service and little bits like screws missing on grill!

Luton, local lad...

Interested to see what you do to it dude

Well Picked the car up today from where it was sitting while was being fixed. Gave me a chance to get some more pics. Also put back to standard steels for safety!

Well a small update nothing amazing!!

Checked the difference in the height to a friends car and turns out the higher side is actually wrong and the lower side is wrong?

Spoke to a previous owner who was the person who lowered it and they definitely were both the same springs. So unsure why one hasnt lowered the full amount and only gone 50mm instead of 60mm :(

Sorted out the horrible noise the heater motor was making, until pick up the new one for it!

Picked up a mint twin replacement grill with lights and also a new front bumper with some smoked indicators on there but not fitting yet due to the weather!

Also managed to pick up some replacement speakers due to previous owner cutting the dash to put in a speaker that didn't sit right or even look right!!

At a grand total of 99p picked up some retro style old motorola Speakers.

34ql8oi.jpg

Thought would a good idea to trial fit them.

33u66xh.jpg

and with the covers on :)

2s81esx.jpg

Still need to have a play around see if can get them mounted a bit smoother. But as a temp fix there good enough for me until the budget allows for some decent 6x4!!

Figured while i was going to do an update would take a pic of still how it is on the outside.

Awaiting for the old Car to sell so can actually address the matters that need to be!

Cant believe someone has cut the dash and parcel shelf!

This car was in amazing condition under my ownership, such a shame to see how it has been ruined, Hope you get it back to a good standard, those brown interiors are hard to find now and that's been ruined....total shame.

Parcel shelf hasent been cut thank god!! has collapsed a bit and is on the list to do to re-inforce it so it doesnt sag like it is. i think the cut in the dash should be covered by the original speaker cover! I'm not cutting into anything to get them other speakers to fit or even screwing into it!

I did have a look through from when you owned it and it was mint!! Kind of sets the bar of where i want it to roughly be with my own stamp on it!

You wouldnt believe some of the just unexplainable things that people have done to try fix things and make them worse!

People don't know what they have that's why... :-/

Couldnt agree more!! Some people see it as a old cheap banger and just don't look after them!

You wouldnt believe some of the plans my mate the previous owner had....

One of them being: Cut a whole in the bonnet and get a K&N Filter poking out the top :disgust:

Still unsure if he was serious. :doubt:

Reasonable size update......

Was digging around in my Nans garden shed (bit of a gold mine at time for random stuff!!!)

Stumbled across these.. 4 13 inch wheel trims, possibly look good polished? So just "borrowed" them to try in the future!

x7guq.jpg

Then that week i was considering merc wheel trims and stumbled on these...

21kxlpg.jpg

But there was only 2 of these but still may try to come up with something to try these eventually!

Now to the car.... Picked up a better condition bumper and grill with better condition headlights all from polohmadness a few weeks after getting the Polo and finally got a chance to put this on.... Not a huge thing but i think it has made a small difference in the general look.

ei4gid.jpg

14xcaqx.jpg

Then got my other car back so had a chance to trial fit the VW steels i had from that... and took some pictures...

9863c8.jpg

6zle6d.jpg

My backbox was by far past its last legs before and i managed to smash the whole middle section on a huge bit of conrete kurb.... So had to replace both baxbox and centre sections!! Was surprisingly easy to work on!!

35k7saw.jpg

Wouldnt fit onto the rear so will just be selling these as need new tyres and funds arent there at the moment to buy all new tyres!!

Had a chance to give it a quick clean.. Which turnt into 3 and half hours spent not cleaning the outside the bits you cant actually generally see!!

Like the inside of boot shuts etc. But forgot to take before and after pictures untill this bit when i had already done some on the dirty side :(

Still alot more work around these bits are needed as an when i have chance!!

boot clean side

2ufss2h.jpg

dirty side

eq5nq0.jpg

Also done some other bits not got pictures off.....

Wired in my sub and amp

Took apart rear seats and cleaned in the washing machine

Got bored with some waist lino from doing bathroom floor cut to the size of the boot and threw it in just to be different and see what it looked like!!!

Few near future plans include -

Full wrap in a silver kind of colour

(Already have the vinyl just need a double garage with power and lights to do this or much better weather!!!)

Change heater matrix as mines noisy and starting to wind me up!!

Continue giving all the door shuts etc a real good clean so can easier be kept ontop off!

Custom sub box which is in the progress at the moment!

Thanks for reading :)

Tiny bit of an update! The wrap will now be within the next few weeks! Work have just aquired a unit so inbetween the full vehicle wraps were doing at the moment will be fitting mine in!! Vinyl is there ready and the bonnet has just been done on tuesday although we done it outside as it was a nice day!

w8ai55.jpg

ofx0r5.jpg

And the finished thing :)

ibgoxj.jpg

The rest of the car will be going a metalic silver/grey sort of colour! Although the roof may be in carbon fibre again I'm undecided yet!

Also some new wheels over the weekend aswell so will throw some pics up then :)

Any comments welcome!

Should have just done the whole car one colour, the silver/grey. Carbon wrap is tacky at the best of times (interior plastics on new cars) but then on exterior panels on an old polo its strange. good work though mate, keep it up.

The only problem is the width of the vinyl I've got is perfect for the panels on the car but just shy of the bonnet so would need to be two sections, but once the cars done fully ill be re doing the bonnet anyway due to some laquer peel when pulling back and repositiong vinyl it lets it down slightly!

Thanks for the input though! Any ideas welcomed!

After an eventfull trip upto Birmingham to pick up some wheels and other parts, when my exhaust clamp decided to leave itself on the m1!

Fixed that, placed in new glovebox and fitted the new wheels. 13 inch VW Zolders

Still a little undecided but think after a little refurb they could work well with the plans I've got :)

well I've been saying since I've owned the car that i wanted to wrap the car and the day finally come that we had the unit free the vinyl in the right place and the right pairs of hands to get it done quicker!!

Ill let the pictures do the talking but I've skipped a couple of stages because would be too pic heavy!.....

CAUTION - MIND THE CRACK!!!

Its 90% done wrap wise still with some minor bits to do once get more time!!

The wrap is far from perfect so if you do see at the polo show I'm just pre warning!!

Reason being is i chose the silver because i think it suites the car a bit more but left me with an issue the huge roll of vinyl i had wasnt tall enough to do the doors etc in one piece so there are minimal joins but there are some!

Also being the old paintwork wasnt the greatest, the vinyl once had touched if needed to reposition it picked up the laquer and left a mark which sucks!!!

Total time to wrap the car was 3 hours so was done pretty quickly due to my mate having his little boy with him!

Since the wrap I've removed the rear stickers and made some more subtle ones at work in a high gloss silver that matches the car a bit more!

Next wheels are getting full respray and recondition but this wont be untill after polo show :(

Good service on sunday, new top mount and few other little bits to tweak before the 6th!

Comments welcome and appreciated!

I appreciate the comment!

I do love the gold colour as well, the paint work was horrible before with some bad repairs in previous hands so was winding me up a lot, the wrap was free through work didn't even pay for material so was an option I couldn't refuse just to make it in my opinion a bit more presentable in being one colour.

Its not a perminant fix as I said its not perfect with joins etc so it was never planned to be staying on there forever don't worry!

In the distant future once I'm happier with the rest of the bits I want to do paintwork will be on the cards but I don't want to get it bodged in because the paint had lacquer peel in spots all over and was in pretty bad shape so would want a full respray either way to do it justice and I'm not a sprayer so wouldn't want to bodge it!
