As above really. I had a white breadvan with colour coded bumpers and there are a few in the gallery. I love them, but white is a strange colour. I have also seen red ones and they look a little worse. So wondering if anyone has done this themselves? My bumpers need a bit of attention so was considering colour coding them as an option.

When you asked the question i was a bit 50/50 about it looking just wrong.

that picture had confirmed that it is very very wrong.

Don't thing colour coded bumpers look right on mk2s.

What about half colour coded maybe?

Half colour coded look even worse IMO. Can't seem to find textured paint to match the original

Or get metal bumpers and get them powder coated in that textured stuff they use on inlet manifolds.

Don't mind that green one at all, infact if it had the standard black bumpers I don't think they would suit the car at all. That said I think the coded white ones look wank

Half colour coded bumpers on a Mk2 look awesome, I've got masses of pics on my PC but it's in storage with the rest of my stuff so I can't dig any pics out.

My 2p would be though, it depends on the car. Subtle retro-styled stuff suits unpainted bumpers, maybe with chrome strips or red if that suits. If you paint them fully then everything needs to be colour coded. Half colour coded works with either, but best with a kinda OEM look and blingy wheels.

No bumpers on a Mk2 looks gash (overbite much?) I reckon, and chrome stuff looks weird because it doesn't fit the recesses in the wings.

I take the point about all or nothing in terms of colour coding. I think the half coding looks tacky really.

My original bumpers had chrome strips but they discoloured below the transparent covering due to the damp. Ideally I would have kept them this way, but finding an early saloon rear bumper, let alone with chrome, and then good chrome strip is like hunting for wrocking horse shit. Not into red on a blue car, so my next option was either white to keep the strip bright, or color coding just the thin strip. Or finally smooth all the strips and recesses out and going satin black

Oh, and to the above: why have square lights but not the trim strip? Really bugs me!

AGAIN, i have to say that white one above looks mint! maybe I'm just more easily impressed then most? lol

Too much white on a mk2 is always a bad thing, mine came with white mirrors as well as bumpers. think it was the first thing i changed!

Far neater with black mirrors, not so keen on the 2 tone mk2 bumpers though..

Just looks like they couldn't be arsed to mask up IMO, if number plate lights were black and maybe a black strip or chrome in the recess would look better. But fully black bumpers on that would look out of place I think.

Me too. I'm not a fan of that car to be honest, but it was the only one I could find. Looks better on darker colours, but it does work.
