Running on 6x14 montreal alloys.. Should I drop it 40mm or 70mm? Just thinking of clearance.

A mk2f doesn't have drop links.

Also, be handy to find out the offset, but with that size tyre you may get away with more than others do.

I'm running 6x14 wheels on the same tyre sizes and 60mm down, no scrubbing.

Tbh coilovers are allways the way to go, they are expensive for a mk2/f but how the market is at the moment you can allways sell them for a good amount. It comes down to your wallet and if you think the car is worth it

From phil j a spring and shock kit i some where around £120-150 while its £ 340 just for a set of front coilovers for a full set its around 465

The biggest problem I had was that no matter how low I went I soon wanted it lower, I started with a 60/40 second had phil j kit follwed by New 80mm front springs, I then cut two coils off them and fitted bonrath lowering topmounts ( this all went on over a year)

iin the end I just forked out for some front coilovers and couldnt be happyer. ( personaly wouldn't bother with rear coilovers as most rear shock and spring sets have set adjustments any way)

Buy front coilovers and a set of rear shocks and springs and adjust them unroll you are happy:)

I've never read about droplinks on a mk2f polo.

Only mk2f I know of is Mikeys using Rover parts.

I'd go coilovers all round mate. shocks and springs will be comfier/softer so if you want to go low may scrub and you can never set a perfect height with shocks and springs.

Rear coilovers for a mk4 fit with washers/small spacers at the bottom to ofset them :-)
