Hi guys, after changing the EGR valve the other month the dreaded engine management light has come back on, the cur runs ok, seems sluggish when accelerating. I have invested in the VCDS kit and the error codes are as follows:

To me it looks like an o2 sensor fault (and an ABS fault which can wait!), but i think the car (vw polo 6n2 2001 1.4 16v) has two o2 sensors.

What checks/diags can i do to narrow down the cause of the fault, i don't want to randomly start changing parts and hoping for the best.

Also the car has a very loud tapping sound, have read elsewhere on this forum that it could be the hydraulic tappets, what problems can this cause if left unfixed?

So, the ABS fault is a quick fix. The fuses on the top of the battery corrode and the pump gets "low voltage" and flags the first code. That, and the dead sensor on the rear left.

The knock will probably clear, it'll just be shite fuel at one point.

Lambda sounds goosed though, the reference and the sensor itself. Bank 1, Sensor 1.

It's the one at the exhaust manifold (the first one). I fixed mine by sticking it on a blowtorch. Worked for a week then packed in. Got a second hand one, fuck paying the cost of a new one. hahaa.

Cheers Adam, will take a look at the fuses etc, as for the Lambda have looked at etka and get the part number: 030 906 262 K

But looking online i can find the part but with a different letter on the end J or G but not K, does this matter?
