I'm rocking 175/50s up front and they look pretty perfect. How low are you, as with such a low profile, you may find yourself with a bit of an arch gap? I have a little too much arch gap than I'd like. I'm down 60 to 70 on the front. 185/50s are ok too, a little bit of side wall bulge mind. I have these on the rear and they look pretty nice, but not as good as the 175/50s!

Yer I'm not feeling the sidewall bulge either, so might have to be the 175/50's not too bothered about arch gap tbh!! :). Where's the best place to get 175/50's from, iv had a quick look online but pretty pricey :(??

I have 185/50 Yokos, 195/45's look loads better

Depends on the brand really though. I find different makes give different looks, which is annoying. 175/50/14 are really hard to get hold of though. At least at a reasonable price

Yeah definitely agree on the brand thing.

My next choice will be 195/45 Toyos

Depends what you want from a tyre. 165/60s are pretty discrete and are good for a daily without monster power.

Yer see what people are saying.....just not feeling the sidewall bulge!! 175/50 are the way forward and found a cheap site for them :D

I got 185/50 yokos aswell, I like em =) there should be more pics in this thread

I also have 185 50 yokohamas. well, 3. The 4th is a continental. They are the best size if you want to keep the gearing correct, as they are the most similair size in rolling radius to the standard 155 70 13 standard wheels and tyres.

195 45 is defo the best tyre choice, most tread on the ground and good for less arch scrub if your going lower than 60mm

Why does a wider tyre scrub less? I know they're a little less balloony but?

Edit;

185/50 Yoko.

:finger: am liking that dude

I think they scrub less because the profile is smaller so overall height is smaller?

Looking at that 195/45 I think the 185 looks that bit better tbh.

Credit to Josh for pics!

Edit, balloony

So do I, but remember they're different tyre brands so not necessarily a direct comparison.

When I looked it was considerably more expensive to get 185/50s and I've seen some where the sidewalls look too tall but they don't on Harris's car.

I much much prefer how JamieDubs 195/45 toyos sit!

Same tyres I've got on mine. Exactly the same tyres.

Exactly the same? Did he buy them off you? ;) or do you share

I've had a few sets of 195/45 14s over the years.

These are Falken ZE512s

TBH they fit fine on 14x6s and they're cheaper than the 185/50s which is why I use them, though had I seen Harris's pics I'd have been tempted to go for the 185s.

195/45s on 6.5s are a match made in heaven:

All for 195/45

Best size imo, no stretch which is good because stretch is gay

The anti-stretch movement is, um, stretching I guess. VWVortex had a Beetle on show at SEMA last year with... proper tyres! Where SEMA leads, the rest of the scene follows, so expect a few people to be doing this during 2013.

I've always thought square sidewalls look nicer than stretched ones, personally. And I've had a car with streched tyres. Was never that keen on them.
