How old are you, how many points do you have, any NCB? What company?

Sounds like it could be right for a young driver with no NCB.

yeah, 17, first car n all that.

oh and the company was endsleigh insurance through confused.com

First car, 1.4, 17yr old, no NCB...£1300 seems a bit high, try adrian flux maybe?

  • Author

you think £1300 seems high?? i thought it was a good price lol.

i've only used confused.com thought because i haven't actually passed yet, when i do i'll ring EVERYONE to get the best deal.

i just wanted to know what mods i could afford to make before i get on the road.

Yeah, forget the internet, the only way to get cheap car insurance is to work the phones for a few hours.

To be honest, that's probably about right, my first car was a 1 litre fiat panda (lowest insurance group possible), I live in the utter arseend of nowhere, and my insurance wasn't far off £800.

MY first proper insurance (not on parents) was for a 1.0e polo and I was paying £1200

phone around, some places may add wheels free of charge.

stick with it though. I'm now paying £320 for a 160bhp g40 8-)

go through bell.co.uk, confused is wank tbh they couldnt give me a quote uner 2k for tpft and paying monthly and bell brought it down to £1500

1300 is good!

my mk3 1.0 at 17 was 1400

I was paying £1300 on my 1.3cl Mk4 (first car) through Endsleigh at the age of 20 with no NCB which then went upto £1400 on a 1.4cl 8 months later.

it also depends a lot on where you live i.e london or leeds.....

i live in a very nice area so it helps out

i was 17 and I've got a 1.4 8v and my insurance is £1300 fully comp with norwich union with alloy wheels declared

i live in a nice area too, crime rates barely exist around here, so surely i should phone around i guess, as people can change things around better than a computer formula!

thanks for all the help.

hey there have you thought about doing your pass plus, i know it seems gay, but norwich union dropped my quote by half when i was 17.

So at 17 on a 1.2 ford fiesta. the cheap i got was a quote for about 1200tpft, then tried norwich union and i got it down to 595tpft, so it worth ringing around to see what they say.

Alex

when my mate declared alloys to endsleigh on his astra, nothing went up.

only his ride height :lol

i got nothing on my car (1.3 mk3) and i am paying 1500 and I'm 17 on a provisional.

quinn direct is the best

  • Author

i'll go give quinn direct a try then! one thing that confuses me, how can you be insured on a provisional??

surely you have to have someone who has been driving 3 years with u at all times??

  • Author

just checked quinn direct via the net, and its gonna be £1500. if i ring up an insurance company though and tell them I've had a quote of 1300, will they go lower??

U really need to shop around, i was payin £1600 fully comp on my own on a 1.1 fiesta for my 1st car, I'm same age as you.

well i actually i was 16, coz I'm disabled. But now i pay £950 with a years no claims on a 1.4 cl polo.

GREENLIGHT is the wya forward, cheap as chips and prefere modified cars!

I dunno were you people call but i was paying 650 quid for a 1.3 polo first time on my own insurance.

So they seem very high to me :paranoid:

Jibber
