Okay, So i've been meaning to get a thread going for ages and after owning the car for 3 years i think its time i actually put one up!

I had the car given to me for my 17th birthday by my grandfather who had owned it from new and she only had 42k on the clock! Being the 16V AFK i couldnt wait to get it on the road

Of course, i couldn't wait to start giving it my own personal touch but it has to be said the mods were gradual over the 3 years due to income etc.... But now things are coming along nicely...


YESSS SHES A 5 DOOR !



When i first got the car (never took any photos before the spoiler went on)





fitted a spoiler..



Next in was some ICE



tucked the amp away where the first aid kit usually is



Left the boot looking nice and neat with no wires on show



Made a nifty little USB adapter for the Headunit






And that was it for a while.... just drove her around and enjoyed it

Phase 2 saw the colour concept interior being installed :)

Had a custom pro-speed exhaust made, with a stealth tail pipe

Had a de-cat pipe added later, boy does it sound nice

I then decided to lower it and get the front bumper smoothed....

Before purchasing some Ronal LS wheels :)

Thats pretty much how she has stayed up until now.

Had a call off volkswagen to say they had a prezzie for me :)

my 2013 amarok high line had arrived :) which meant i could finally take the polo off the road and do what I've been wanting to for ages.........

SO, here we are today and the main reason for me starting this thread. I'll let the picture do the talking...

Yeah i was lucky to find an interior in such good condition. contemplating wether to get it retrimmed or not.

yeah got a BAM from the cupra R, got a few more little bits and bobs to get but i have the majority already. I've got quite a few more pics to add that ill get up shortly :)

Awsome car man looks awsome I want to put a cupra engine in mine in the future been looking at option but really don't know what to expect it to be price wise how much do you recon it'll cost you I'm guessing your doing the labour yourself.

Had quite a productive day on the polo, Got the driveshafts out, removed the power steering pipes and a/c pipes so I'm just left with the brake servo, abs pump and wiring loom in the bay.

Also got round to cutting out the existing engine mounts and even started to strip the 20vt :)

Yeah I'm doing the majority of the labour myself. I had a very good deal with the engine which has saved me a lot of money already to be honest. Probably in the region of £2500 to get the engine in and running, but theres a lot of other stuff i will be doing so i can't really estimate a total price.

Little bit of an update.... wanted to finish stripping the engine bay tonight but the snow is falling so i decided to strip some more off the BAM in the warmth :)

Good work..always have wanted to 20vt my 6n2 but can't justify spending the money and don't know if I would undertake the job myself!

If its a BAM engine its gunna be the 225bhp engine, would love that engine in my golf

Yeah it's a 225 lump and I'll be using a g60 box. Their both stripped down now, getting new rods and valves for the engine and stronger diff pins for the box :)

Bit of an update....

Finally got the engine stripped to where i wanted it.

Got the head off and took the pistons & rods out to upgrage to rifle drilled ones from integraged engineering :) also ordered calico coated shells

Got the block painted whilst i had it down that far :p

This is what it took to get it done

New rods have finally arrived :)!! i'll start to built it all back up sometime within the next week

So your going for a big power build then? or sticking with the standard k04?

yep but thats down the line... I'm doing the rods now whilst i have he engine down this far

Makes sense, guessing you will be rebuilding the bottom end too...yes?

Only the calico shells for the bottom end. The std BAM crank and pistons will be up to the task, just the rods are a bit dodgey so I've done them first as last. I've also thought about putting in super tech valves and updated springs but that will be easy enough to do while the engine is in the car, so I'm leaving them out for now

Bit of an update.. started to rebuild the engine and paint some more parts. Should have it all built back up by the end of the week, just waiting on a head gasket.
