i really want to lower my polo but being an old man of 45 and using it as my only car will i ruin the ride if i do lower it?

i had a golf mk4 and the standard suspension was awful,very hard at the back where as my polo is plush and the steering is light and direct,infact I'm surprised how comfortable/fun it is to drive for a small car

anyway i love the look of a lowered polo but need some more imput on how low i can go on 14"16v wheels

Depends how much lower, with decent quality suspension you can achieve good ride quality lower, but you pay the price.

Having more travel means softer springs can be ran giving a lower ride frequency which is generally associated with comfort.

And my golf feels like more of a boat than my standard 6n did! More comfortable for sure.

A decent quality spring and shock kit will lower and should ride better than a cheap set of coilovers.

Nah, mk4's are crap anyway :p

Use standard replacement dampers with 40mm springs. You keep the ride comfort and it sits a couple of inches lower.

Problem is that a couple of inches doesn't go far on a 6n. But if you go lower with a spring/damper kit you are most likely going to hate it.

^this really, get progressively wound springs & they'll be more comfortable at low speeds & stiffer at high speeds. Get some big wheels to help fill the arches

Depends what spring and shock kit. They can be good and good ride can be achieved on low cars, just depends if anyone's designed anything suitable.
