Think it maybe possible to fit mk2 on a mk2f, but mk2f on a mk2 would fall short at the front

Then as close as I can find to a direct comparison, this one has Mk3 GT arches (they're rounder)

I believe they bolt straight on. What you will have to do is chop off the bit below the top of the bumper on the front ones (on a Mk2 they follow the wing around to the valance). You'll also need to remove your side rubbing strips. Mk3 GT/G40 front arch extensions are attached to the section of rubbing strip on the wing, and non-CL strips are fitted to the shape of the metal arch so won't go over the plastic extensions. The rear wings are the same on both cars so those should be a straight fit.

Are the arches in the first pic rolled do you know? They look to stick out at the front.

I've no idea sorry. They're a different shape though, closer to what's underneath than the Mk3 ones.

It occurred to me earlier that Mk2 arches won't fit around the rub strips at the back either. But you can cut a recess into them and shape them around the ends of the rubbing strips. My advice is it's easier just to get rid of the rub strips altogether though.

If your car doesn't have sill trims you'll need those too.

basicly the only reason I'm asking the above question is that i want the mk2f bump strips becasue the mk2 ones are basicly shit and dont match the textured pattern on the archs

If you get Mk2 arches, the bump strips are completely separate from them so you can just have the arch pack and nothing else.

Mk2F arches are different. The front arches are joined onto a section of rub strip like this:

If you want to use Mk2 arches and Mk2F rub strips you're in for a bit of chopping about. The bit of rubbing strip on the front wing is moulded to the shape of the metal arch, so if you use Mk2 arches you'll need to cut out a notch to fit around them or just take them off altogether.

At the back, the arches aren't joined onto the rub strip on a Mk2 or a Mk2F. The strip is shaped to fit over the Mk3 plastic arches on GT/G40s, or against a little section of arch trim on non-GT/G40 cars (which you'll need to remove to put the full-size trim on). I assume this section is shared between all Mk2F coupes so it should fit over the Mk2 arches as well.

Basically if you want Mk2 arches on a Mk2F:

- front arches will have to be cut off where they meet the front bumper, and cut around the side rubbing strips if you keep them.

- rear arches should rivet straight on, and fit under the Mk3 side rubbing strip section on the rear wings

Ah, I see. Same applies (Mk2 arches, then use the Mk3 side strips and cut the arch strips as above)

With the Mark2 bumper not intersecting the wing like it does on a Mark3, I can't help but think Mark3 front arch trims would look a bit odd as they would just suddenly stop halfway along the front edge of the arch. The only real way around that is to try and fit the Mark3 front bumper.

You're then faced with the issue of the edges of the Mark3 front bumper being forced outwards, as its having to overlap the Mark2 front wing, so it won't quite sit flush to the arch trim.
