This is the only relevant thing in the MOT testers manual

On Class 5 vehicles only, check that the exhaust tailpipe is positioned so it is unlikely that fumes will enter the driver’s or passenger area

There might be other clauses in the construction & use regs or the SVA test manual?

As far as I'm aware, *which may be wrong*, it has to exit behind the rear wheel

The exhaust on my GT exited infront of the rear wheel so unless the MOT tester was letting it slide i cant see that being true.

some vans have it sticking out the side before the rear wheel

Burnt my leg on one of those once. I doubt they failed mots, seeing how they were built like it.

Unless you mot'ed it aswell, the side exit was done after I had mot'ed it so not sure if it would of passed or not. That said I've had heard of other cars passing with them

Pete this is stuff that you should already know the answer to, if you want to stand any chance of getting this on the road it will need to be built to the sva regs. My advice would be to find them and go over them with a fine tooth comb before going any further

Which woul of been behind the front wheels and wouldn't let gases into the cabin

This was just a thread to purely see what the Mot says about it

And the SVA regs are confusing to shit different things for different classes and I don't even know what class mine fits into yet need to ring vosa and find out and sort out applying to have mine done

Was gonna post a picture up of said car above with side exhaust. Even watched one have an SVA test on tv.

SVA test is strict, dependant on how yours is assessed, they're picky about everything, using gauges on stuff on the interior etc for crash safety and stuff.

Lots of things are designed in certain ways not because it's making it's complicated - its to get around things like this, so just beware mate, need to get it bang on
