Hunting grounds

Featured Replies

Hi all.

As per my ad in wanted, I'm after a breddy.

What I'm asking here is where do you all hunt for cheap cars that have some tax/test on (aside from this fantastic site ofc).

ebay is failing me. Either my search details are not right, or there are like 5 on there. PH's is not showing me any love and neither is AT.

So any suggestions of new grounds would be great.

Cheers

Ebay tends to be a bit expensive because everyone knows about it. Weirdly enough I just calculated the average price of Daihatsu Cuore's (:ninja:) on Auto Trader, Gumtree and Ebay; £1193, £683 and £980 respectively. I would say Gumtree, less well known so less over priced stuff.

Doing the wanted ad was a good start as I sent my mate a link to it as he is selling a breadie with tax and test for £400.

Kerry where and what colour?

Iirc it's either silver or that champaign colour, Dursley in Gloucestershire.

They pop up on retroride.co.UK without the scene tax from time to time too

Isit bad I really want a Daihatsu Cuore since watching mighty car mods?

Ditto - between mighty car mods, and the area 52 Cuore i have been looking out for one for some time.

:)

Cheap cars with T&T i look at Friday ads or gumtreere doing - I see a lot of cars being advertised not under their make but under "cheap car" which comes up in no normal car searches etc.

Checking a local car auctions is also a good one, as long as you know what you're looking at and you're willing to risk buying a car with a few quirks i'd recommend it.

To the majority of people at the auctions (mostly back street dealers) an old polo breadvan is not worth anything to their market so they disregard it, i picked my coupe up with tax and test for £260. Remember though theres commission on top, so mine was £311 altogether. Although the fuel tank needed replacement, but then that was only £80 and a days work.

Otherwise as already mentioned, free ads, local newspaper ads, gumtree etc. Keep an eye out in local garages yards and maybe even scrapyards for mot failures etc before they go straight in the crusher.
