well, i'm still unsure dependent on features. Want to be able to perform such things as throttle body calibrations (regarding your post on my not starting thread actually haha) and needle sweeps, as well as having control over codes and lights etc.

The cheapy eBay one I've had has been perfect so far, reset codes, used it for data logging, it's good.

You can't do needle sweeps on the these cars though..

Ah ok, have you got a link to the cable and software you use? would be much appreciatted. you can do a guage test though? saw it on youtube!

You can do a gauge test, yes, but not a needle sweep like you can in the newer cars..

Eh, can't mind. Was the cheapest one. Haha

A friend has told me you can download the Ross tech full version for free, and use it with cables that aren't approved as long as you don't plug the USB In while connected to a network

A friend has told me you can download the Ross tech full version for free, and use it with cables that aren't approved as long as you don't plug the USB In while connected to a network

The program you download from the Ross-Tech site is the full program, just that it's functions are limited, unless you have the licence key or you have one of their genuine leads ($250)

Never heard anything about the not being connected to a network?? sounds like a load of guff

Is guff on the network thing.

A "dumb" cable can't connect to the network to tell if it's genuine or not.

You can download the software off the Ross-tech site, but it's functions are limited.

So will only tell you one fault code and hide the rest. Works, but it doesn't.

Off topic: UTORRENT IS A REALLY, REALLY GOOD PROGRAM...

on the genuine (intelligent) cables the license key is in the cable, so when a genuine cable is attached it activates the software.

if you purchase a vcds licence it will only work on one computer and you can only transfer it once so only install it on a computer that you intend to keep.

the free vag-com or vcds doesn't hide any fault codes but only provides a description on the first code any other codes are displayed without a description, note the fault code and google it for a description.

if anyone knows of a stable cracked vcds/vag-com let me know as i cant find any.

Use some common sense with external links guy's.

IE dont post links to a certain buccaneering coastal features.

:lol::lol::lol:
