Been ages since I was on here!

first of all had a 1.2 match, ended up getting rid was far too sluggish and sounded like a tractor starting up with that horrible 3 cylinder engine.

I'm 18 & just ordered a polo R Line due the week beginning the 11th march, been looking around for available remaps and can't find anything!

does anyone know of where has a map available or am i going to have to have a custom one made up? Only going to stage 1 at the minute.

Also been looking for an induction kit, heard it makes quite a difference on the TSI engines, we had one put on my mums car and it did make it more responsive. I've found 2 really, one is the ITG intake however only designed for 1.4 tsi, would this still be effective?

Or a BMC CDA Airbox, to be honest I'm rather new to the tuning side of things, I love how these engines drive anyway but it would make it more fun if it was a bit more responsive.

Any advice? thanks :-D

Leave it alone and drive it under a full manufacturers warranty.

Thanks all for your brilliant feedback! Dad works for vw so can get a lot of the work done for me. Insurance is 741 for a year so isn't bad at all, that's with them knowing it remapped, phoned them yesterday to get a quote. Definitely not depressed haha. Thanks though I only asked for advice :)

I seem to remember that ABT did some re-maps for these and that was available through VW dealers.

Ahh I never knew that they were available through dealers, I think it was on the abt website I saw a remap but it was 1500 euros. Going to look into it , thanks ! I knew that putting my age was a bad idea though, hard to get a serious answer! :(

yeah I knew it wasn't cheap... if you have a Google for TSI tuning a few things come up. I 'believe' these engines are using in a lot of the VAG group cars so hopefully the information for Skoda's, Golfs apply to the Polo as well...

Off topic, but how is it so cheap? I doubt I could get one insured for that price at 28 with 5 years NCB

I actually don't know, it's with 1 years Ncb and both parents on it, I'm the main driver. Was honestly shocked at it, but not complaining. It's insurance group 14e which isn't that high I guess?

If you can get the engine code, and find out where the engines go elsewhere in the range you'll find stuff too.

Even if you can get the ECU manufacturer and name (like Motronic ME7.5 - the ones in the 6n2), I managed to find shit loads of stuff online for them.

This might sound like a daft question but is the Ecu details on the actual unit? We have another r line at one so could get it off that before mine is here :)

You'll find it on the ECU itself, or if you plug it into diagnostics.

I don't know, what is it you smell? but if you're really that concerned I can upload a screenshot of the online quotes I had as well. Always had the impression people on here were supposed to be more of a community than being petty..

Either it's funded by mum and dad (and the last person that did that, told us he wouldn't bend it and did in the first month). Or it's your mum/dads insurance policy and you're a named driver.

Either way, I think people are calling bullshit, rather than jealousy.

I know haha it's annoying! I don't feel like I have to explain myself but I had a bit saved up, and the car will be at staff rates, got a well paid job as well so it's definitely not paid for by my mum & dad! :-)

I would trust his quotes. I'm been quoted £800ish for 1.4tsi gti and I'm 21. New cars are much cheaper. Bit silly mapping right away it will feel quicker than your used to anyway just enjoy it?

i pay £358 on my 1.4 16v mk4 golf and I'm 20 with 3 points, mods insured and 2 years NCB its my own policy but Aviva did give me 33% discount because my mum is with them as well, you can still find good deals out there :)

And yeah they are quick as they are I was insured on my parents one for a month and it was very quick, doesn't seem like a 1.2 at all. Just wanted to see what potential there was in it really, seen massive gains on the 1.4tsi engines so didn't know what would be possible with the 1.2 :-)

Found a remap on AmD for 399 :) was on the UK site, god knows where i saw the 1500 euros one!

Looks okay, says it adds 25hp & 30 lb.ft torque, which is around what i was looking for anyway :) going to look for a filter then leave it at that!
