UPDATE:

As some may know had an issue with running!

replaced and swapped plenty of bit over and was still screwwed!

turned the tickover up and was over fueling alot- nice for sound- not nice for wallet

finally this week as i dont need the car took it to bits and found a huge tear in the carburetor mounting flange and so have bought a new one!

coming this evening so should be running nicely soon

as it was in bits i stripped the carb and cleaned it all out so it should be good now!

video of popping!! was even better with compression braking :)

soon be having a sesh on the paintwork to get her nice and shiney for summer as its beginning to get sunny

heres some pictures from a recent d2dubs meet, fair to say the main photographer took a liking too it as most of the album was of mine :D

LOWS UPDATE!!

Finally got round to doing it! the sun popped out so the struts came out! ;)

needed to replace a topmount of the drivers-side so thought i might aswell, while i had time and as the carb flange is screwwed, to get the hacksaw out and lower her a touch more to make up for not cruising around...

after all the to-ing and throwing of comments about whether to lower it more i though it needed a bit so started at about 9 o'clock ish and was done by 2:30-3:00!

alot quicker than i thought it would be as i struggled before with the breadvan taking the struts out...

Here goes:

Taking struts out!!

WP_001147_zpsa2677e0a.jpg

new lowered/uprated shocks:

WP_001143_zpsb2aa7bd2.jpg

new top mount! - it has stopped the clunking... HALLELUJAH

WP_001141_zpsec253791.jpg

Then this happened...

WP_001145_zpsd3a27f34.jpg

(thought i would be sensible and only take one off) - when i had the spring out it was clear the bottom three coils touch as the paint had rubbed away and started rusting..

quickly sanded down and painted the springs and chucked them back on!

i know its not much but its made a hell of a difference!! the steering has got more re-active, the ride appears to be less harsh yet it corners better (more grippy) than before

heres the before and afters:

before:

WP_001122_zps695b4c9b.jpg

After:

WP_001148_zpsc73fb90a.jpg

it has made quite a difference in heigh! - more than i thought it would.. about 10- 15 mm

SO smiles all round...

UPDATE:

Halo lights :D

I know many people on here will think I'm stupid and that its looks tacky or whatever but i know some will like it- as i do!

hunted around for some halo lights before i started, but theres none for mk1-2 polos, but there are for golfs... these dont fit so my initiative showed!

found some motorbike halo lights on the bay which were a suitable size for my lights;

WP_000829_zpsa9e41b9c.jpg

WP_000835_zpsd2aa475e.jpg

then wacked the lights out of the car:

WP_000833_zps5a9ca250.jpg

Put the lights in the oven to soften/ melt the sealant between the lens and the light, i used a flat head to prize it open after a good 160 degrees cooking

then next clean the mirrored surface and try to keep it clean,

WP_000853_zps70eca61b.jpg

next i used super epoxy glue to stick the halo light into the light by putting a few blobs around the rear of the halo light (2,4,6,8,10,12 o'clock) and held it firm into the light and tried not to let it slip and keep it horizontal with the light itself to keep it square, then after:

WP_000856_zpsa4d9ae67.jpg

I ALLOWED THIS TO FULLY DRY FOR 24 HOURS!!!

I then clear silicone-ed the lenses back on and scraped the excess off around the outsides and they were ready to go back in

The lights i bought came with an inverter that plugs into the light then into the side light socket allowing them to be used as side lights

there fully functional, haven't leaked, haven't moved or anything and i think they look spot on!

had many compliments about them and use then a day time running lights :D

and a close up!

look aswome when driving about!

opinions? - any questions just pm or comment :)

NOT good recently!

appears my car has a magnet for animals,

when learning to drive in it, during the second day out a deer decides to run out, clipped the back end of it, luckily no damage.

recently the magnets got stronger!

hit a pigeon and it got stuck between downpipe and made a mess everywhere

then saturday night! holy shite!

big

ass

badger

vs

POLO

I pooed myself, happily driving along then boom, badger in the road and a truck on the other side...

thought i would brave it and go for the badger instead of a head on with a truck

was like jumping over a speed bump, then POP grrhhahahahahaaa..... shit.

luckily though no visible damage as of yet, only thing was it popped the gear selector out!

called my mate over with a bigger jack and got her up, and luckily it popped straight back in! no other damage i can see yet, just lots of guts and blood covered the underneath of the car :/

all this happened at about 11 pm, night before UD where i was on a club stand!]

nightmare! know the cars sexy but geezzz! :L

Them halo lights look good.

Nice looking polo you have there :D

What a story when your learning sounds funny as f00k!!

Looks great BTW mate, Really does, Give me a PM regarding what suspension its running and where you got it from.

wasnt funny i shit myself! had to pull over :L

was expecting a huge dent in the front of it but ol' vdubs are solid

Last time I hit a badger in a mk2 it ripped the exhaust off! And I had deer fur in the crack between valance and wing for years after some silly munt jack wandered in front of me

UPDATE!!!

Exhaust time!

when i got the car the whole zorst was rotten and battered so i bought a full standard system, fair to say this didnt last long :L

First I got given this of a girl-friend off her mk2 golf looked mint as it was ratty but didnt think it would fit on mine

WP_000565_zps317fed46.jpg

fair to say i ended up selling to a saxo owner

After I purchased a mini sportex back-box with a nice up-flick!

So...

WP_000730_zpsd0008f7b.jpg

bit of weldy and bendy:

WP_000724_zpsdc9e3138.jpg

WP_000729_zps1e5aa66e.jpg

WP_000732_zpsa0da2129.jpg

Also managed to shorten brackets here and there to allow the exhaust to sit closer to the body to try save it :L

and the after looks something like this:

DSC00649_zps20585d1c.jpg

Still sits pretty low on the zorst though :/

DSC00486_zps6223fd24.jpg

theres what it sounds like!

opinions???
