yeah all on insurace! dad wouldnt let me run it otherewise! multicar policy makes it alot cheaper so declaired!

also I'm not running that madder camber! its just where the wheels sat when i put it back on haha! would never drive it like that!

coilovers are finally on and set how i want them! - i know they will wear in but this is how i want it sat roughly

The fronts need to go about another 5-8 mm for me but thats for another day!

and the sump now sits less than 2" off the floor so low and slow... especially as the zorst clamp towards the rear catches on road camber now and again!

however, as a car its totally changed by this new setup, feels alot more responsive and firm handling wise!

But the stance is well done, wheels fill the arches nicely. Wish I had the balls to go with coilies but I just don't want the harder ride and sump fear!

yeah it totaly does! mine are ta technixs are they are lovely when compared with my shocks and springs

before it felt like a minor crash everytime i went down a slight hole or whatever but with coilovers the drive is more responsive

After fitting with helper springs it was roughly the same height as before so i threw them out and its more bouncy now but its more comfortable to drive.

recently been getting stick of others about my car so thats why its there,

also as said previous it depends on what set you buy, I'm not overly fussed with ride quality just wanted stupid lows, and if I'm honest its only about 30-35mm lower than before, catches now and again but its only the exhaust clamps, sump seems pretty out of the way and seems unlikely its going to get hit!

haven't updated in a while, had loads of exams at 6th form to concentrate on haha!

yesterday the car decided to not work :(

was driving back from a dub gathering at a local pub, when it went

basically went all boggy and would not accelerate at all!

looked under the bonnet to make sure nothing obvious had happened but all was well, had plenty of oil and water etc

got her home and cleaned all the dizzy cap, plugs and stuff like that, still was shitty so i thought must be the carb or may have been lift pump or something?

took the lid off and saw that something wasnt right!

to the right of the carb flap (excuse non-technical diction) there is a plastic cover that usually covers the mechanism which moves the flap (i assume for choke)

anyways, this had broken off and got sucked into the carb, under the needle thingy and was stuck right in the carb!

took the carb off and got the cap out and blew out the carb with an air gun, few bits of plastic came out (not good)

slapped it all back together and wosshh! of it goes, not the best exam prep as i fixed it this morning about 1hr from my physics paper 3 exam haha! - just in time!

yeah silly me! i wasnt sure as the fuel filter wasnt full so it looked like it wasnt getting fuel!

it wont really matter about damage as theres something a bit bigger going in soon

I'm very behind in the updates and theres alot i have forgotten previous to the coilovers, but they were far more exciting so they came up first...

before i fitted the coilies (awaiting transit) a bug came into my head... do it ... do it Sam...

after going to loads of meets and club events recently i found out my car actually isnt that loud at all!

so out came the mr grinder again...

chopped a straight pipe out of a golf mk4 turbo from scrap yard and chucked it in the middle

measured to size roughly, cut the ends down the pipe to allow it to slip over the existing exhaust and clamped her up!

so much more clearance as i haven't got the center silencer in there! the exhaust is basically flush with the body work now so not as much scrape

so i did the honest thing and dropped the car more :)

when I first had it i thought it was too loud but it seemed to settle and surprisingly quiet if you want to be, just cruising about town, just what i wanted,

also, its veerrryyy raspy, which i love, really happy i did it!

UPDATE!!!

now, I did this soon after the car but basically forgot about it ahah!

when I bought her she had no sound/ICE at all! - no good for me as I'm a Dj and love my tuness!!

so i managed to find an old sony headunit and 12 stack cd changer - WIN

plugged all that in but then didnt have any speakers to put sound through!

went and bought 2 pioneer speakers for the rear and made some speaker pods for the fronts:

heres what I did:

1) cut a rough cardboard template of the footwell area

2) cut wood board out of a fish tank cabinet which happened to be gloss black and yummy

3) cut holes for speakers and mounted these! nice set of sony's

4) mounted in the car and plugged in!

After that was a sub which i built a while back before I even had the car!

bought two 12" rocksford and fosgate subs (which i thought were the tits) only to have em blow on me after about a month!

It was absolutely massive!!! and real heavy aswell, basically made from hardwood and screws!

however now thats gone and I've got a nice JBL double 12" which is more than enough on half haha!

I'm really impressed on how it sounds now!

the sony's that went in the front were out of shelf speakers with the bass and tweeters, the pioneers were actual parcel shelf speakers and then the sub's were out of disco/bass speakers!

basically built the two sides, both are different, fitted speakers and then cause the board was nice and tight just screwed in into the plastic center console and it hasnt moved since! has to be tight fitting though..

probably not the best for sound quality but its pretty good :)

Ported to rite volume would improve sound and bass so much :)

Yeah did think about that but my fabrication isn't amazing! Just wanted some sound at the front cause it sounded strange all coming from the rear!

Thinking of making some to go behind/under the seat that would be proper and powered with an amp to add quality,

Well cause this thread has died a death recently, even gone to page two!

Just to let you all know, shes not to well at the moment.

Mot came up and it failed, well that's an understatement, there was absolutely tonnes wrong with it!

straight from the word go i missed my MOT slot because the bloke was too busy and had run over into my slot so ended up going the next day. Then the MOT guy refused to MOT it because it was 'too low to get on break rollers' which i dont understand because firstly its not that low and compared to MX-5's, it cant be that different and secondly never heard this excuse before...

I expected a few like the exhaust and a wheel bearing but the list goes on:

driveshaft gators x2, bottom ball joint, steering arm, steering gator, tracking, wheels sticking out past body (rear) too much camber, exhaust blowing at front, exhaust not mounted correctly, wheel bearing 1x front, 1xrear, rear seat not mounted correctly but the real issue is rot in rear sill near suspension mount...

I knew last year that it was kinda bad but thought i would throw it in for test to see what it came out like, and after looking the drivers side is a mess..

sooo! this was all over the weekend and is now awaiting welding as i have completed the list of jobs previous!

any tips on welding or prep or anything would be great!

but as it stands haven't had her for well over a week and really missing her! its been a nigthmare and slowly giving up, just want it sorted and good to go!

Hello everyone, another update on the current situation:

I've managed to fix and replace everything other than the sills and headlight so kinda a good thing, however, closer look at the damage to the sills is awful!

heres some pics as they speak best!

me father recons its too far gone, suggesting to sort it for MOT and get rid of it because of the sill issue :S

what do you guys think? is it really bad, and hows the repair work looking?
