Buying wheels from abroad on ebay

Featured Replies

What are peoples opinion of purchasing wheels listed on ebay (.co.uk) but from places like Greece, Croatia or Portugal

Would there be additional taxes to pay for importing etc?

Are they trustworthy or will they just take your money and disappear?

Same question on taxes applies to buying wheels from ebay.de assuming the seller is agreeable to shipping to the UK what additional duties etc would apply?

no additional duties if within the EU

go for sellers that use paypal, your protected that way. or your credit card.

most germans will only use IBAN, which incurs a circa 20 quid charge (dependant on bank) and you have no come back

I've bought Gladers and rocker covers etc from .de & .com before no issues usually better transactions than .co.uk

I purchased a set from Ebay.de.

Had good comunication from the seller, he was a fellow dubber.

No problems at all.

I got my Steffans and a few Mk2 G40 bits from ebay.de and had no issues. Saf's right in that an IBAN transfer will cost you to send the money and of course there's no protection with it. The Germans do seem to be reluctant to use Paypal as a rule though.

I wonder if that's in general or just with items they are shipping out of Germany

Now just need to learn German!

 I had a text file somewhere with all the German translations for G40 bits I was searching for. Try asking Google translate what a boost pipe is haha
Now just need to learn German!

If you use the google chrome browser it will automatically translate the pages for you, that's what I use for the Russian ETKA site

I use Systran to translate you can use it on their website ;)

as said above as long as its through paypal and keep the email corrispondence etc till it arrives all ok.

IBANs a bit of a pain would try avoid it unless you bank account has free international transfers as part of the package.

not bought wheels but had lots of other stuff delivered that way with no issues

Exactly this

It's a lot easier nowadays, No-one on german ebay used to accept paypal so you had to arrange an international bank transfer (something that wasn't easily done on-line back then) and I don't think it was cheap. We all used a friend of a friend who lived over there, paypal them the money + a bit for their trouble and then get them to do the bank transfer.

I've bought two sets of wheels off german ebay and would happily buy more. They just have better wheels over there!
