Does anyone know what size/length the main bolt holding the rear axle is?

High tensite 8.8 or 10.2

OEM bolts have a 16mm hex head, however 17mm hex heads fit

You talking about the ones that go through the rear axle bushes, one each side? They're M10x80 (as per Gaz's ETKA screen shot!) and 10.9.

With 16/17mm heads they'll be M10 Forbes, not M8.. But the stub axle bolts only have 15mm heads. They're still M10.

in that explod drawing what size is no 29. I'm going to have to warm mine to change back shocks n may nack it

No.14 in the drawing is now obsolete too - I ordered 6 and got only 4, apparently the last remaining stock. All of these are available through VW Classic Parts if you like paying a fortune for bolts.
