hey guys, just bored and this didnt make sence to me..

right, my insurance with admiral ran out on the 22nd of january, but i didnt realise that they automatically renew it! (fuckers)

so basically, on the 25th of jan i insured my car with brentacre on a new policy.

so between the 25th and now (31st) I've been insured under two companies. now,

phoned up to cancel and i said i hadnt used the car from the 22nd to the 25th anyway and then i insured with a new company.

however, the guy told me that if i cancelled it from the 22nd, i would have obviously been uninsured for 3 days untill the 25th, and that i may get a fine as its illegal??

i dont get whats illegal about not being insured for 3 days yes the car was still taxed, but dont you get like 14 days to change that if not reinsuring???

can anyone shed some light on this? i ended up cancelling from the 25th, so dont matter now, but I'm still confused by it.

i think he's just reminding you about the new 'stay insured' law, as now you can get fined for having a car that's not insured and not sorned.

however there's a few weeks before you get a fine as insurers can take a long time to notify the MID so you have nothing to worry about.

Admiral used to be a really good insurer, was with them for years, but recently they just seems to have turned into arseholes over certain policies.

I dumped them at my last renewal too.

As long as your car was not on a public road during those 3 days, then they can't do shit.

I'm insured with admiral under a multi-car policy. I have three cars Two 6n’s and my project saloon. And last year had the two 6n insured for the full year and project insured for 6 months.

Come to renew and they wanted all three car to run for the full year (Really Expensive) plus ‘no’ the saloon lives in the garage and is not going anywhere till summer so 6 months again.

So rang up to change the renew to what I wanted I even got a quote online through their own site which was exactly how I wanted it.

NO they guy on the end of the phone couldn’t figure it out and was trying insure the two 6n than add the saloon on later which ended up being more expensive than the renew. over and over again kept coming back with different quotes and different prices which where more expensive.

Even pointed him to the quote and no couldn’t get it.

His accent was a little funny found out they use Canadian call centres.

So rang back asked to be put through to the UK and bang first woman sorted it in 10min.

If companies use call centre please brief them on how UK stuff works.

I left elephant insurance because they posted my insurance certificate to the incorrect address twice when I was in disparate need to tax the car.

also thats exactly like the guy i was talking to, didnt have a clue just kept going on and on, was about the 4th or 5th time I've rung up in a week to try and cancel, so i thought fuck it just do whatever lol

I've had a Canadian once (with Elephant). She was infinitely more helpful and friendly than any Indian I've ever had.
