I suppose what I'm asking is are there any adverse effects. Was looking for something economical, settled on a merc cl500 So thinking of sticking a tank in it but don't want to effect performance etc. it shouldn't take me long to recoup my costs.

Anyone on here fit LPG, or suggestions if you know anyone that does....

Slight drop in performance when running on gas from what i know of saabs/volvo's fitted with them.

Last I heard everything now has to be fitted by a qualified fitter and certified, Id assume there had been a few accidents caused by poor fitments.

Also if you do get it fitted after filling up DONT put your hand on the filling nozzle, Cryoburn is not a pleasant experience (think tounge on metal pole but with your whole hand) and you get some amazing blisters too.

Saw this a while ago when i was resarching lpg..

my car has LPG but a got it profesionally fitted

you do loose performance i done the rolling road on both 155bhp on petrol 119bhp on LPG but road town and motoway driving you cant tell the diffrence.

The difference in performance is night and day on the audi, but then it was installed by imbeciles... Fuel economy is also worse. I think the best it averaged was 28mpg on a run but even at that it was still only costing me about £10 to do 100 miles and there aren't many cars that can claim that anymore!

My father in law had a fiesta petrol converted from new the only problem that he had was that it burnt out the valves so he had to use an additive when filing up. He also had to start it on petrol as it did not like doing this on the lpg.
