I'll be lowering my MK2F and I need a set of coil spring compressors. Anyone know what kind I need? I've had a look but there's so many and I don't want to waste any money! Any advice always welcome! Thanks!

Dont need them mate. I did my backs without them (was easy). Theres a trick to doing the fronts as well. Someone else may confirm this and give a better description than me, but i believe that if you undo the top nut with the car on the ground, then jack it up, you can remove the top mount, and can pull the shock through the top of the turret and wriggle the spring out. I'm crap at explaining stuff.

The only things i undo on the front are the wheel bolts, ARB-TCA nut,damper retaining collar,castle nut,and top nut. The top nut comes undone with a swan neck (mine is a Halfords Professional 17/19, also have a Gedore offset spanner works well) with the car on the ground. Castle nut is done with mole grips also with car on ground. ARB-TCA nut only comes off to get enough space to remove the spring and its top plate.

The hub/strut stays fully bolted up,because the ball joint mount stretches,and the steering arm can be a pig. The damper is sent out the top through the top mount hole,allowing removal of the spring from its bottom end.
