Didnt know where else to put this soo...

I have had some Vauxhall steels in the past that I have had to use and as you may or may not know the center bore is smaller than on VW's.

I Did do the sensible thing of boring out the center bore so they fit... however, in winter they can rust up and before you know it they are welded to the hub.

So if this happens to you here is the solution.

Get your self a gear puller and a socket the size or bigger for your hub nut. Place the socket onto the hub nut then place a wheel bolt into where a ratchet would normally go in the socket.

Like so...

And arrange the gear puller so that it can grip onto the steel wheel through the holes available. (also see pic)

Now wind it up so that the point of the gear puller sits on the wheel nut you placed in the socket, keep winding and it should pull it off the hub.

NOTE: if it gets stupidly stiff when winding give it a few kicks on the right and left of the wheel. the gear puller may jump off but just follow the instructions and it should come off.

Thats some fancy contraption there. Good idea, probabbly took some thinking up, but i think i just used a mallet or my size 10's to get mine off Its a problem that shouldnt need to be solved. I find plenty of copper grease on the hub and wheel mounting face stops them rusting together :-).

Or, for the front wheels...

Remove wheel bolts on a wheel. Let jack down so there's a small contact patch on the tyre. Put in first and slowly ease the clutch out. Hub spins, pops wheels off

Oh i know its a problem that is self induced however I have had a spare before that was from a vauxhal again and when your on a backroad in the middle of nowhere its your only choice to put it on lol and then you dont want to take it to a garage to get it off again lol Done this on a few scrappers too after they have been sat for 15 years plus and kicking or mallets wont suffice, this works a treat :)

That looks like a lot of effort to be honest, I just jack it up and either kick the wheel off or if its super tight a couple of whacks with a rubber mallet does the trick
