The swage line on the 86c bodyshells is a pain to keep protected. I wanna find a strip of hardened steel to stick along mine!

I don't mind the odd mark in the paint actually but when that line takes a knock it sticks out like a sore thumb

Women (especially with kids) are worst for hitting other cars as the vast majority just do not give a shit about other peoples cars.

Wether it be an immaculate classic,a brand new sports car or anything in between, they will still crash their doors into it.

It's nothing to do with having an old car or jealousy or anything like that, but pure ignorance and the desire to open the doors as wide as possible to aid the unloading of their brats.

I've had to restrain myself from carrying painstripper around for people like that. I'm real careful when i get out and if there isnt enough room then i go and park elsewhere.

Become alot more wary of where i park now days. the car was straight when i bought it. could probably count 6 different dents on the passenger door along with scuffs all along and a fuck off dent on the

bonnet. Came to my car parked outside a mates house a few months back to find my N/S rear window had been chipped in a few places and a few chips just below it on the paint. which has now rusted..

The valve remover thing is a brilliant idea - let them experience some of the pain with no actual vandalism or theft taking place. (especially leave them their valves somehow )

The most annoying is when someone does it when your in the car and just says "Its only a little dent". 9 times out of 10 an apology would suffice. But the fact that they say its only a little dent just annoys the hell out of me.

Nowadays I just take my wifes car if I know I'm parking somewhere that will be bays where it will be side by side. Can't help it happening sometimes but do try and minimise it if I can.

alternatively, you could jam a little stone in it so it holds the valve down and lets all the air out.. that way you're not even taking anything off it. all you're nicking is air, and that's free (for now)

besides which, most people don't carry a pump around with them anyway.. they'll still have to call someone for help.

Depends what car it is. Lupo GTI don't come with a spare wheel, just a compressor and some tyre sealer.

I remember going to a works conference and getting there early and parking in the end space only for a women to then park so close to my car that she could not get out, I spoke to her and she didn't get it so I moved mine.

The best was when I was at work when someone reversed twice into my g40 and then drove of.

Problem is for most cars don't matter and people don't care, women and kids are worst as are older people who have to open doors wide to get out.

I'm afraid its not just old people or women with kids its all types of people that just dont give a shit about your car cos either they dont car about there own car or its a compony car so easy come easy go

I no longer have my mk2 and didn't have it too long but on more than one occasional I saw people just pulling their doors open onto my car in car parks (one occasion I was actually sat in the car!), they just don't see that whilst it may be old that it actually has value to someone else and that it's not a heap of crap just because it's 20 years old. I wouldn't mind as much but I always try to park off to side/far away where people tend to not want to park. My boyfriend has the same problem with his Nissan, just because it's 16 years old and is stripped out people take no care around it.

It's just rudeness and I don't see how some people think it's acceptable. I completely agree with what you say, I barely see newer cars receiving the same treatment, unless someone is simply just a idiot.

Modern cars have flimsy panels, as they are designed to flex and crumple, you can easily dent them by just pressing hard on a panel . I just remembered something that happened a few years back with my Dads MK2 Golf. He was giving a colleague a lift, the bloke was carrying a load of CD's, and just as he opened the door to get in he dropped the CD's and as he tryed to grab them he knocked the Golf door and slammed it into a Ford KA that was parked next to it. The MK2 Golf door actually punched a hole in the side of the KA, which the bloke then had to pay to repair! If your gonna dent it, may as well do it properly

i've found that my mk3 picked up dents quite easily when i had it and the panels felt quite thin but my 407 is different, when i tap a door panel it sounds more solid and it doesn't pick up dents as easily (notably fewer) and i don't think it's been treated any better by the car park scum as i've caught a women the other day with her door against mine.

We've got a group of NHS women that work in our office block, luckily I can see the whole car park out of my office window. So many times I've seen them just hit the door on peoples cars and just walk off.

where i live i need to use the shops carpark so what i do is park bang on in the middle of two bays, that way only the thickest of people will try parking next to me, but it does state park within lined marks or face a fine, i spoke to the manager and stated that my car keeps getting hit and he was happy with me to park like it....so quids in

if there's no other spaces available and I have to park closely to someone else, with the risk that my door might hit theirs, I hold the edge of the door - that way, if it hits, it's my fingers in the way, so no damage to their car, or mine. Alternatively, if my bump strip lines up with theirs, I'll slowly open the door until the bump-strips make contact - again, no damage to either car.

Or just open your door into theirs in return, using the same excuse. It's only really the panel that gets hit, that gets damaged. See how they like it.

I avoid certan types of cars now , If i see a tasefuly modified car , Ill plonk my self next to them thinking they look after thier car. Or if i see a brand new beamer or somthing thats parked out the way ill stick mine with that.

Got a toddler, never parking my MK2 in 'parent and child' bays though. Long stopped parking at the front, nearest the buildings entrances anyway. No problem with spending 30 seconds walking across a car park, i'm not lazy.

Got disabled badges for another year and a half for her anyway, for those occasions when my timekeeping is rubbish..

its when they think its an acceptable part of parking that bugs me or you confront them and they blank you and walk off. i had a fat bimbo do it to the G in sainsburys. not my fault free willys your cousin and you cant park! needless to say after she blanked me, i found a new use for the shopping trolley also tempted to carry superglue around with me. lets see how they like it when someone vandalises their doorlocks!
