What does 14x6... mean?

Featured Replies

Bought couple months alloys for my car.

Now the time has come to buy tyres for them and some paint as well.

By looking at the Numbers, i noticed on rim - 14x6 JJ

Does it have to do anything with size of tyres or something?

Tyres on back 185/60/R14 Front - 185/55/R14

Thanks

14 is the size of the rim, so 14". x6 is the width of the rim so they are 14" around by 6" wide. Doesn't affect the tyre choices, that all depends on what you want, stretch, profile, etc.

84.

Joking aside, as above the 14" is the rim diameter, so you can only fit 14" tyres, width and sidewall are then preference, within reason.

IIRC standard size VW fitted were 185/55 R14 on their OEM 14x6 wheels on 6n/2

Worth noting having odd sizes like you have currently is legal, front to rear; but you must have the same size across axles.
