Hi all, having some problems with my car idling

I've read up quite a bit on this but its on a beetle forum. Basically the car will not idle and die when I would come down from speed or put the clutch in at junctions, or even to change gear for a round about. A list of solutions have been looked over and I was told by a friend when he had the same problem with his Mini that it was because of his pre heat hose. Looked over my engine last night and I dont seem to have one, I can see where it connects by the air box, but I cant see any indication as to where it goes on the exhaust manifold.

Does anyone have any photos of where it goes? Would be really helpful. I'm unsuire of the engine code, but its a '85 1043cc, 8 bolt. I can get a photo up later of the bay.

it will go to the heat sheild on top of the manifold if its fitted.

It does sound like your having a bit of an icing problem by the symptoms so fitting the hose should alleviate them a bit.

I think that could be a negative with the heat shield

Yeah, on the forum it did say about the main problem was icing
