Where abouts is it located? Can you get to it by taking the cowling off?

Yes, or the radio feed, that's closer.

The radio is closer but the lead from the ignition switch is as near to being a direct feed from the battery and therefore the least likely to be affected by switching loads on/off as it comes direct from the battery via an 80amp fuse See diagram

Sorted now thanks guys. Eventually found the wire (there were a few yellow/black) just traced it back from the ignition barrel.

Just to help anyone else out.

The wire above (blue wire attached to it) can be used as a switched live for many things, e.g footwell lights, just remember to fuse it!

Pretty simple to do. Looks nice as its blue so it matches the rest of the dash
