This was his daily "car" until someone wedged their Saab under the back of it at a junction. The insurer-approved bodyshop invented thousands of pounds worth of work (to areas untouched in the collision!) so it was written off as uneconomic. The damage was ONLY to the rear valance, (which the owner's knocked out sufficiently to be hidden under the bumper), and the fuel tank, which was ruptured (which the owner has replaced!)

So all that's required are 3 spot welds, and the bumper bolting back on!

He still has the V5, so whether a VIC check is actually required is an uncertainty.

After this, his insurance premium was ridiculous, so he bought a passat, and the van's been unused for a few months.

Saying that, it started 1st time, and drove out of the garage for pictures 2 days ago.

recon front axle; 62k ... That's right - a NEW AXLE!!!!

There really is nothing left to change.... He was planning to keep this for years, so everything was changed for a long-term fix.

4 driving / foglights fitted in front bumper.

All rust on the body removed before it was painted (rollered) in NATO green military vehicle paint. A few areas could use touching up, but it's an easy job to do outside in good weather, and £25 buys a tin big enough to cover the van!

Supplied with a spare set of front pads and 2 more shocks front and rear

The rear bumpers are supplied, ready to be fitted after the valance/wing panels are welded up (this was only 3 spot welds from the factory, and is currently bolted.

So... This really is about 1 hour of work to get back on the road - just weld up the back corner, and bolt the bumper on! ... It's a 100% reliable van - always starts, drives well, even the tracking's right!

Drive it away on trade plates, or to a pre-booked MOT. ...
