My history

This is my first build thread after owning first a Tornado Red 1989 Breadvan. I bought it in Summer 2010 from eBay (having owned a mk1 Fiesta, then a Saxo, then a Celica Supra). I crashed the Supra one too many times and it was costing a bomb in fuel being a 2.8 litre straight six, so having nostalgic thoughts of the classic ford but wanting something more reliable, I settled for the Polo. I ran it for 2 years, eventually ending up with a Bike Carb'd GT engine in it.

This was then stolen in Feb 2012, and was in too bad shape to fix up when I got it back, so I decided to reshell it, and ended up with a very tidy coupe (Paddy!)

Sadly, in October, a week after it's debut at Santa Pod, this happened..

I walked away from rolling twice at 60mph, but the car was ruined.

I bought a SEAT Cordoba Vario TDI as a daily, and my wonderful missus bought me a new project as an early christmas present.

Meet Emily!

Plans are..

Engine: 1.6 AFH on throttle bodies with ECU management, lightened fly, valver gearbox, Quaife LSD, uprated driveshaft (have engine(s) flywheel and box) just need diff, driveshaft and fuel system

Suspension: GAZ coilovers, GT steering rack, GT rear beam, fully polybushed, PPP Stage 3 subframe

Brakes: Drilled 239mm discs with VW2 calipers and braided lines (already have)

Wheels and Tyres: Starmags 13x7

Exterior Styling: watch this space

Interior Styling: Cobra buckets, Sparco harnesses, black vinyl doorcards with gloss black 'Mark Crox' style speakerpods (already made!)

ICE and Security: alarm and immobiliser of course

He bought a MIG welder off my boss, so he is doing it all him self :)

Max - as Ryan says, I've got a supermig 140 that will be getting used hard this year!

Mark - Thanks dude, you inspired me! Have a look through my old shots and you can see the work in progress. I made the frame like you, wrapped it in a fibreglassed t shirt, then went from there.

yeah they are rather straight forward. Just google 'How to make speaker pods' and a good few posts come up. That's how I made mine :)

Sorry to spam but I'm thinking of making a set soon . Do i need to fibre glass the door card behind where the pod will be .. Then wrap it so its enclosed ?

Yeah you use it as a mold.

Have a look on my build thread there are pictures of what I did :)

I could only reallt see one where it was wrapped in what looked like a cat blanket lol :p

Small update..

Yesterday I stripped the bay and removed the engine loom which is going in the bin. I also test fitted Pete's wings (made famous by his avatar) I'm not sure whether to use them or not yet.

Looking good Jim that engine bay is horrendously dirty and the battery tray looks a bit stufffed :/

the wings are looking good I'm chopping out my rear ones next week if you want matching ones for the rear

and them old wings look past it lol
