MY 6N2 BUILD THREAD

Featured Replies

HI all first up let me introduce my self my name is james i own a lovely 6n2 and 1.4. I have had the car just shy of 8 months and well its been a bloody money bucket and that was just to keep it going now finally its almost mechanically sound and i have been tweaking a few things and making a few mods, over time these will get bigger and better. me and my polo have a love hate thing going as she always seems to want something doing to her and will always find something that needs fixing. not Evan a week to owning her the money was getting used from my modding budget i had to have re registered at a dvla office as the tax was for a disabled vehicle this would also explain why basically all the interior was trashed.

It looked like a some one let a horny bear lose in there.

so first week was the following:

gearbox re built and serviced

new clutch

cv joints

new brake disks

new rear shoes

new passenger mirror (the one still holding on for life was fubar and deffo illegal)

with all this being done there where no alloys going on as budget went bye bye.

i did do a few small things in my deference tho lol:

fitted a stubby arieal

fitted a new leather gear gator (plain black)

fitted a new cd/mp3 player (it still had factory cassette deck fitted)

fitted new-ish door cards as old one where scratched to hell

fitted new from vw grab handels

got a parcel shelf

debadged the polo letters

recently had my mot and ohhhhhhhhh what a surprise FAIL on 7 things i think and she also hit 60025 miles so that meant time for a new cambelt kit also and water pump also all 4 tires could have been used on a f1 car so had to get that sorted and my lower arms where shot. and a full service was in order So no mods 8 or treats again in over 8 months.

BUT FINALLY AT LONG LAST WE HAVE PROGRESS

In the last week i have managed to get a few bits done:

fitted front fog lights

fitted fog light switch

fitted a honeycomb grill

IMAG0329.jpg

replaced front indicators as the looked like they had cataracts(done befor foglights went on(

i have also done a wheel refurbish after spending £220 on tires i decided keep the original steels and do something special with them so look out for that

Why didn't you take your wheels off to paint them ?

Funny maskin off ha

i did not take wheels of because i did not have any axle stands or jack also my drive is on a kinda incline so was a bit overly cautious and i masked the top because i also painted the wiper arms i am paranoid about getting paint on body work lol. end result looks good and no paint where it need not be so I'm happy

i like how it turned out the centres are from a 6n but had to repaint ther and put some new stickers on

I did buy some chrome beauty rings, lips but unfortunately they to deep to fit my steels I am still on the hunt for some as they where always a part of my design.
